The nintendo switch is routinely prices at $349 in most places. That logic you sited isn't universal. If you have a hot product, it'll sell. And if you're trying to undercut your competitor? Nobody will frown on saving $50. The Blu-ray drive doesn't cost $100 or $50 (cheaper) so they not going to take a $100 hit on top of the hit they already gonna take to sell it. They gotta aim for $500 with the regular ps5 so expect one or both versions at X49.99

My head tells me that's what they are going to do, especially with the market share they have. My "heart" tells me they aren't gonna be that brazen with it and at least go 549

One of them was talmbout value for money in their reveal. I know it was a white guy, and I think it was a PS exec. So I'm inclined to believe the initial price was probably 600 for the standard, 500 or maybe lower for the digital. Every time I look at it though, that disk drive just seems like such an afterthought.

Knowing Microsoft they will keep the series X price the same but they will drop the price of the series S if Sony drops the DE at 400.
I’m expecting 500/600 but because of already seen backlash I think 400/500 is where they will land.

The thing that still trips me is "ERP - Estimated Retail Price". I don't recall ever hearing that used and it makes me think that they're willing to drop one or both down once more before pre orders start.

That’s what it is there for. They won’t increase the prices. Only decrease it and doing it for the Series X doesn’t make sense.
I’m guessing they will eat 50-100 from the series X and 100-150 for the series S in build cost.
If Somy drops at 400; they go to 199 or 249 for the series s.
