I like to use tangible things that are real and can be proven.

:manny:
Ehh, like other said, I don't think any Gucci fans laud his sales to show how big he was. Dude's mixtapes were his gold. I lived in Oakland, DC, and philly and traveled to Atlanta a lot from 06-10 and Gucci was banging at every house party, car, and club during that time. Gucci helped put on and inspire a much bigger crop of new artists from the A than jeezy, ti, or Luda - all guys who were much more commercially successful. From learning how to work the mixtape circuit, to high output, to creating your own PR, a lot of them young (and mint so young) dudes learned from Wop. Now whether it's positive music that came from that or whether you love/hate the high output approach, that's up to you. But Gucci did and does have an imprint that's not quantified by sales. :manny:

And this is why gucci could never break through.

His fans don't support him.

You can write a million excuses, end of the day if you can't put your money where your mouth is you aint a real fan.
how are you coming up with this? Again, if the shyt his fans love him for are his mixtapes, those are free. And unfortunately, Gucci does have a large segment of his fanbase that don't buy albums, pretty sure if he had more female fans, a wider white audience, or simultaneous pushes from def jam and diddy in 04/05 like jeezy did, he'd sell more. He's made a pretty above average living off these fans going to his shows and them independent dollars. Gucci out here still relevant while while you'd think jeezy's catchphrase is brrrr due to how cold he's been since like 2010 - and I'm a jeezy fan :whoa:

A Jeezy album in 2016 would outsell a gucci album :manny:

For as influential as his internet based fans like to claim he is, he can't even influence his own fans to buy his albums :manny:

Releasing 500 mixtapes ain't influential :manny:

He didn't start the mixtapes wave he just rode it like everyone else. :manny:

Gucci makes a song with somebody and gucci stans wanna pretend that artist owes they whole career to gucci :manny:

I'm Not seeing it :manny:

If you can point me to something tangible that's real and not hearsay I'm more than willing to listen

NOPE. You know why? Because when Gucci tries to do that then hes 'selling out' so there's not much reason to argue when people move goal posts at will. That's why in a thread where he is doing a festival in California people mentioned he was trying to get the white hipsters ironically failing to realize a rappers job is to sell as many tickets/as much music as possible.

For example, Gucci came and went but now the goal posts are moved so this thread can be upped :yeshrug:

The only tangible thing you want to talk is album sales, if that's the case, nikkas like Nipsey, currensy, Dom Kennedy, etc have no careers and haven't found a way to do well for themselves either...ok

As far as the people who act like a cat like drake doing a song with gucci means he made him, I'm not one of them so you can stop projecting. All that is hyperbole and those types of "fans" are just as disconnected as the haters who act like because he hasn't sold millions of albums, he hasn't been influential to the game nor have a solid fanbase
