I'm "getting" it now. If it runs decent on my geriatric rig (i7-2600k, 8GB ram, GTX 570(:flabbynsick:) then I'll buy it.

Might have to eventually cop another used 570, but I've maxed out (16:9 tho) even on FC4 with good fps.

Your 2nd gen I7 will run the game good. Just upgrade that 570 to a 970 if you can and you'll be straight. You can hit 1080P/60fps with that rig.

I can get a constant 60fps on high with a 2500k @ 4.0 and a GTX 970. But every now and then the framerate will drop to pretty much exactly 30 for about two seconds, doesn't really matter what is happening on screen either. I am really happy with the performance, but this one thing makes me not want to play the game.

Man I really don't wanna spend over 3 hunna for a gfx card again. When I got the 570 I figured I could just get another used one and SLI when games got too intense, especially since I barely game anymore.

Well you can try that but again SLI support tends to be spotty for certain games.

Apparently there's support for SLI in this game, and some dude on another forum said this

I can run GTAV with most things on high to ultra with 2x MSAA but no tessellation as i have a GTX 570. If it had more Vram i would probably be able to enable that feature. Currently get highs of 100fps and lows of 50fps running GTX 570's in SLi. SLi profile amazed me how far it actually scales im really impressed with what R* has managed to scale GPU's from different generations

Here's a good guide to seeing how the settings work and what can/can be lowered to achieve better performance.
http://www.gamersnexus.net/game-bench/1909-gta-v-graphics-optimization-guide

MSAA, Grass on Ultra, Post FX and Shadows are the most resource hogs. I personally would advise you to turn down Grass to very high/high/normal and Post fx to very high/high for more fps.

Also there's this weird issue where the game might seem to be running at a lower fps randomly when it was working good before. Try turning down shadows and then turning it back up again. It should fix the performance drop. Even in Franklin's Crib I was suddenly getting 40fps.
