Alright we have the MLE, BAE, left over exception from is Ariza has 2.25 left, millers exception is 4.65. We have enough from to use all of it and be under the lux tax

I would work a sign and trade for Gerald green just giving them what we have left for Ariza exception (2.25) 3 year deal with a player option for the 3rd.

I would work a sign and trade for Derrick Williams just giving them miller exception of 4.65 and giving Williams a 4 years deal. Extremely close to the full MLE

I would offer josh smith the full MLE "I don't think he will get offered that anywhere else"

I would give the BAE to a SF Omari Casspi that can shoot and backup Otto and won't cry for minutes with KD comes to town

And in the draft at 19 we pick up grant because we need a backup PG big time

I would not move nene. 13 mill coming over the books and will be a good player as a backup C

PG wall/sessions/ grant/ temple
SG beal/ green/ temple/ Webster
SF Paul/Otto/ Casspi / Webster
PF smith/ Williams/ hump
C gortat/ nene/ Blair

Hopefully we can move temples contract with our 2nd round pick so we can get to 15 player roster BUT if we can't then we don't pick up Omari or use the BAE

I don't like Williams that much

I don't like Casspi either

Gerald Green is fine

Here's a snapshot of our salary situation, assuming we keep our 1st round draft pick this year and next year; we buy out Webster, and we dump Blair after next year. I'm also assuming a full MLE acquisition this summer since we have the room to afford one.

Code:
Player 15/16 16/17 17/18 18/19

John Wall 15.85 16.96 18.06 19.17
Nene Hilario 13.00 - - -
Marcin Gortat 11.22 12.00 12.78 13.57
Martell Webster 5.61 2.50 - -
Paul Pierce 5.54 - - -
Bradley Beal 5.69 11.39 - -
Otto Porter 4.66 5.89 - -
Kris Humphries 4.60 4.60 - -
Ramon Sessions 2.17 - - -
DeJuan Blair 2.00 - - -
Kevin Durant - 27.30 28.53 29.76
2015 MLE 5.45 5.70 5.94 6.19
2015 1st round 1.33 1.39 1.44 2.22
2016 1st round - 1.33 1.39 1.44
  - - - -
Total Salary 77.13 89.05 68.15 72.34
Salary Cap 67.10 91.00 108.00 110.00
Luxury Tax 81.53 110.57 131.22 133.65
Cap Room -10.03 1.95 39.85 37.66
Luxtax Room 4.40 21.52 63.07 61.31

As you can see, we have room for an MLE free agent this year while still maintaining enough room for Durant's max salary. If the $91M cap estimate turns out to be accurate, we'll have another $2M or so in cap room, which may be eaten up by a successful 2nd round pick in 2015. We'll have the flexibility to cut Humphries' $4.6M salary if we want. We'll also have a $2.9M Room Exemption, that will let us tack on a guy after the addition of Durant causes us to hit the cap.

I think Williams as a backup 4 with wall will be great. Can camp out at the 3 point line and can put the ball on the floor and run right by regular size 4s

And on defense randy will have him make his rotations. I don't expect great defense from a stretch 4, I just want him to be where they need to be. That is 80% of the battle

@FAH1223

we're talking to your man Don Newman about the coaching vacancy. thoughts? :lupe:

Apparently

He's the reason the Wiz have been top 10 in defense in 2013, 2014, and 2015

Which brings me to why Wittless is around :mindblown:

Newman would be a better head coach than :wittman:

He's probably the one who talked about playing stretch lineups and last year when Witt got thrown out of a game, he played Ariza at the 4 and made Wall/Gortat so lethal in a game in Toronto.

He's from that Popovich tree, so I'm sure he will be competent. I just don't know how good he will be. But having a couple rings probably will help.

Then again, Monty Williams and Jacque Vauhn got fired so..

Oh and the Nuggets GM worked for Ernie Grunfail in the Wiz front office so this makes sense.
