so why is there all of a sudden such a backlash against "one and dones"? Aren't there other examples of NBA stars staying multiple years in college tho?
Kids are committing to schools because they can't jump straight to the league, not cause they truly want to go to college....and coaches like Calipari are effectively signing mercenaries to one year contracts.

It's not like kids are on some ":lupe: i think i need a year in college to tune my game up and make the jump to the NBA that much easier"

The age limit ( which was supposed to alleviate a problem) created a far worse one.

most of the guys who have stayed multiple years

A) promised their parents they would graduate (why alot leave in 3 years graduate early, like your boy patrick patterson, emeka)

B) don't need the money - guys like joakim noah, grant hill

C) weren't going to be a high pick so returned to school to get better and move their draft slot aka brandon roy

After his junior year, Roy considered entering the draft, but changed his mind when he learned that teammateNate Robinson and high school senior and UW signee Martell Websterintended to enter the draft. He saw an opportunity to rise in the ranks on his college team, and improve his draft position

D) no intentions of ever being drafted (why mid majors are stacked with seniors) or at best a second rounder or not draftable aka chandler parsons, kyle singler

exactly. And don't give me that bullshyt about 'free education" when you got that bullshyt like the UNC Afro American studies scandal. All these schools just wanna keep these nikkaz eligible to keep that sports dough rollin in. They don't give a fukk about education.

i think the problem is, they aren't really that good

most of these one and dones would NOT have been drafted right out of high school... but they are so overhyped, that they get told, you SHOULD have been drafted out of high school.

so they go to a school for one year, don't care about learning shyt, and just want to shine to improve their draft stock... why learn a system or learn from a coach or plan on being there 4 years and help recruite.. when you can just avg 25 a game and be on sportscenter all week and go top 10

the problem is not the NBA game... the problem is college now sucks... instead of watching rivalries over 4 years, or players you like staying for 4 years, or players learning and working on their craft for a few years...... you now have these one year "wonders" who never really do anything special... and poof.. they gone... on to the next 1 year player

that hurts the COLLEGE game cause they can't keep stars and can't BUILD good teams that'll last for years... that and now everyone out for self and highlights...

but at the same time if these kids can be drafted by an NBA team why not? Why would they play another year and risk injury or draft stock dropping? You say they aren't ready, was Anthony Davis not ready? John Wall? Cousins?

This all about not wanting to see black men gain wealth.

That's all this about.

U don't see them crying about white kids turning pro at 14 to play tennis/golf, etc.,

Racist agenda hiding behind "W-w-well tha game is suffering."

Yeah right.

If that was tha case, why is Lebron (who went str8 outta highschool) and Kevin Durant (who was a one and done) tha top players in tha game right now?

you're arguing their point... i'm arguing bobby knights

bobby is saying, the nba letting them join after one year... is killing the COLLEGE GAME...

he gave no words, nor fukks, about the players and what they want to do.. it was more about having these star players come in, and bounce in less than a year... it's a joke.. they aren't learning anything in school or on the court so why are they there???? if they that damn good, then let them skip college, why waste coach and school time with this nonsense???

me personally, i think it should be hybrid... you can join the league at any time.. but if you go to college, stay at least 2 years..

who wants to watch their team have a new michael jordan every year... yay we got him, awww we didn't win, damn we lost him... start from scratch again next year

and yes.. a few do good... but the draft is 30 teams... 60 picks... out of each year, each 60.. how many turn into superstars?? it's low low percentage.. and i'd say a lot more turn into bench warmers or out the league fast

if this was steeped in race, why are the players all for this? This is one of the few things that weak union fights for and gets.

When you figure out the answer, you'll figure out what the real motive is.

If the league truly wanted to depress salaries to that degree, they'd do it. It would cost us fans a year or two, but they'd do it, just like what happened in the NHL

cause it's not effecting college golf

people in here are confusing his point... he doesn't give a fukk about the nba game, the nba money, the college education... nothing

his point is, the nba is coming in and TAKING (raping) every semi good to great player that college has... which causes the college GAME to suffer...

that was all
