Thank God, someone must've smartened him up finally.

When Hal was asked about the possibility of getting rid of the rule years ago, he said he never put much thought into it because nobody complained. I don't think he realized that nobody who was against that rule was going to complain. They just weren't going to sign with them. It's been proven through player surveys that the Yankees grooming policy has prevented them from signing players.

Tells me all I need to know about this dude. Dude has no vision for his team.

This whole facial hair thing is financial it always is. Anyone will go to the Yankees and shave if the money is right. He doesn’t want to over bid for these guys.

I’m fine with the change but this was financially motivated

Hal is such a bland corporate cac :dead:

Also, he's acting as if he's 80 or something when he's only 55. There's plenty of men in their 50s who have beards.

Anyway, finally that stupid facial hair policy has ended. It was outdated as fvck.

So just to clarify...

He wants to keep the hair policy with respect to Yogi Berra, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle.

Every one of those players finished their careers before 1976, which is when George Steinbrenner instituted the facial hair policy.

I'll repeat it...

George Steinbrenner was born in 1930. He came of age and had his prime in the 1950s...practically the PEAK of the "Mad Men" era. And he was from a very conservative part of the country in the Midwest.

His 1976 hair policy was a lash out against what his generation viewed as hippies and the counter culture.

It was a stupid policy in 1976, and only became dumber with each passing year. It had nothing to do with projecting an image or with marketability. It had nothing to do with "tradition".

It was boomer bullshyt and always has been. Even if Steinbrenner predated the boomer era.

Damon coined the gloss “the idiots” if I remember right :pachaha:. I think it comes from Steinbrenner having went to a military academy and wanting to project what he felt was an image of discipline and professionalism. Damon has also been hitting the bottle lately so he might not have all his facts in order :lolbron:

Jasson Dominguez with a tough play in left.
A fly ball dropped beside him.

Hard play because of the sun.
I can imagine how people will freak out about his defense now.
