The problem is a competent and interested organization wouldn’t have even been in position to go after Soto to begin with because Harper, Machado, Turner/Seager/Correa, and Olson all should’ve been here which would’ve left no opening for Soto to begin with. Instead Hal is content to let his GM set money on fire by giving it to Happ, Ottavino, Britton, Donaldson, Hicks, IKF, Gallo, DJ, Rizzo, and Stroman which then prompts him to whine about the tax.
I just wish Cashman didn't have this weird fetish for drafting and signing guys he doesn't really like but doesn't wanna get rid of them either. In theory, the easy answer should be play Peraza at 3B and off we go, but we're beyond convinced Cashman hates him so it's killed any desire for any of us to wanna see him get the keys.

and if there's truth to how the clubhouse gets down, they're a bunch of ringless Posada's. They allowed Verdugo to get 621 plate appearances to put a .647 OPS, an OPS+ of 83 at Yankee Stadium, all in the name of being a vet who can defend. We literally saw Stephen Drew but with more AB's. Ready to DFA DJ and the players are fighting to keep him, for what? I don't think Judge and co. have learned anything because they're too protected.

His fascination with playing :flabbynsick: vets over young guys while also refusing to trade the young guys is by far his worst trait as a GM. A big part of why 2022 went south so fast was his insistence on playing Gallo, Hicks, and Donaldson long past the point it was clear they were done and his refusal to move on from his stopgap shortstop IKF whose error in game 4 vs Houston ended their season. There’s no logical reason at this point why those guys and Verdugo should’ve been getting playing time over Peraza and Dominguez. Same goes for first base where it’s been essentially 8 years of stopgap solutions with no end in sight. He likes to say he won’t let rookies decide his fate so he ends up picking guys with a low ceiling that’ll never be difference makers on a championship team just to cover his own ass, which is a firing worthy offense.

Damn this thread is already insufferable.....................
As long as the team gives a great effort from the top down and doesn’t give half measures, we’re happy. We know what the Yankees using all the tools at their disposal looks like and we really haven’t seen that since 2009. That’s the issue. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard :manny:

I doubt White Sox fans are this miserable.
:mjlol:
White Sox fans don’t really have much of anything to talk about to be fair. Their team has basically no players to build around, the owner made their games less accessible to make some more money for himself a while back, they’ve had playoff success in just 1 season in the past 108 years, are coming off the worst season of any team ever, and the owner won’t spend any money to improve the team on the roster or behind the scenes while he tries to shake the city down for a new stadium after they gave him the current one. It would be like finding something to talk about among orioles fans from 2018-22. They checked out and understandably so. Only the rays, marlins, and A’s drew fewer fans per game last year.
