I think Ja for Trae makes sense. Grizzlies have basically all the parts to cover Trae defensively, I have a hard time seeing Atlanta getting back to the ECF anytime soonish with a Trae led team.

That trade does nothing for either team cuz the Hawks currently have defensive pieces to cover Trae and they are still avg

I am no Trae fan but he's a better passer and shooter than Ja, plus he actually can stay healthy. Ja also ain't a good defender.

I think a change of scenery for both guys makes sense.

I thought Tuomas Iisalo was the guy who came up with the offensive scheme. It's very good in the right hands.

Yeah he was the guy who came up with the scheme.

Sounds like Jenkins was on the clock once they fired his assistants after last season and brought in Iisalo. Good breakdown on everything that led up to the firing from ESPN:

DOESNT fukk WITH JA....

"League sources say Morant, in particular, was upset that last summer the team let go of one assistant with whom he was particularly close, Ahearn, who worked with the two-time All-Star more than anyone on staff. This season, Morant worked most commonly with LaRoche"

Jenkins had begun to reinstall some of the plays Morant likes, a league source said, reimplementing the pick-and-roll and other plays involving screens Morant could use to break free.

JJJ's gonna make All-NBA which is gonna make him eligible for a supermax. They don't wanna lock down both JJJ and Ja to that much $$$ and Ja's general unreliability makes him the easier guy to move on from

This team got zero smoke in 2023 when they lost to the Lakers. They were a 2-seed and were embarrassed in Game 6, were completely outmatched in that series. Jenkins should've been on the hot seat then.
