You know we're basically on the same page, right. The only point of dispute is that I believe you have to beat someone significant to be considered a "legit fighter (MMA)." He's certainly a "legit martial artist."

I feel ya bruh, I'm just saying that ANYONE that makes it to the pro level is someone I'd call legit. He had to build up his amateur record to even do that as well. But it's a subjective concept anyway. Tommy ain't gonna beat someone like Brandon Vera but he definately made it far enough to be considered legit IMO

Not entirely true, some of those scenes in the original MMPR the suit scenes were actually actors fighting until they hired suit actors in Season 2, like this scene:
