I’m sick of living through Wikipedia entries.

Think of it another way. Remember when you wondered how Hitler got 19 million people to go along with genocide, you're watching it in real time and it's completely based on the price of eggs. People are willing to murder their neighbors over the cost of a dozen eggs. It's alarming and shameful.

Except it was never really about the eggs.

Steve Danger Moore @stevenmoore722.bsky.social
No, it was about racism, misogyny and stupidity disguised as fear over the price of eggs, but the really dumb ones, which is unfortunately the majority of them, thought it was about the price of eggs.

Mars Drum @marsy606.bsky.social
It's about land grabbing, fossil fuels, power and greed.

Jen @jndwz.bsky.social
I'm sick of living through Onion headlines.

Frank Migacz @fmigacz.bsky.social
Before encyclopedias, you had to travel into the woods and find an old owl with a tome

Kyle Reed @kyle.kallanreed.com
I’m down.

I was tired of living in a dystopian science fiction plot. Now I'm worried about entering a dystopian supervillain narrative without superheroes.
Though I have noticed that To Luigi is now a verb.
We're kind of entering a period where the vibe is very 1932, but Hitler was elected US president.

We are living in a pressure cooker...there will be a release at some point...in some form...and it won't be good for anyone especially those applying the pressure.
History shows us this.

We know that as the god-abused realize their abuse, they will only lash out harder
The trick is to build a big Wile E Coyote hole in front of them for them to fall into when they do

So, how 'bout dem Mets? @sohowboutdemmets.bsky.social
Studying history is *way* better than living it

Danny @croned.bsky.social
I can't wrap my head around all the "what's your problem with Wikipedia?" responses.
Hasn't ANYONE finished a high school English lit class?

Mike Geney @mikegeney.bsky.social
54% of our country has a 6th grade reading level *or lower* which includes a lack of comprehension skills.
Its genuinely depressing and part of the reason we keep living in interesting times...

Danny @croned.bsky.social
Yup, it's all part of their plan.

I remember being in elementary school and having to look through my parents encyclopedias in order to do my homework. Crazy times.

"We were only as smart as our encyclopedia set."
Not smart but "knowledgeable".
21/25
johnaldv.bsky.social @johnaldv.bsky.social
True, but time and again people who know nothing tend to make really stupid decisions.
22/25
mccraephilosophies.bsky.social @mccraephilosophies.bsky.social
Of course. And yet, what you actually do with what you know is quite decisive. That's what being smart is all about.
23/25
johnaldv.bsky.social @johnaldv.bsky.social
Oh no don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty of people who “know a lot”, but can’t apply the knowledge.

mccraephilosophies.bsky.social @mccraephilosophies.bsky.social
We are in agreement there.
