Sadly LA will be back to normalish in two weeks. It was suburb communities that burned up and people not from those communities will quickly move on as they're mostly out of sight. About the only lasting impact for most will be when they drive up PCH and see all the nice ass houses are gone

Altadena was already trending towards Silverlake 2.0 with Cafe De Leche, Miya, Mini Market around Rancho Bar. Altadena has a long history so some cacs and black folk (let's say 5-10% of current pop) will go back and rebuild and fight to retain it's identity. It's something I got in mind long term, maybe I should get in on "New Altadena" and come up somehow.

Palisades is more of a paradise for the rich so I can see rich Chinese, Saudis and Russians getting in on the rebuild.

Rentals only, no true ownership unless you are mega mega rich. They will be new landlords and assume insurance coverage in case of disaster and they will sell it as ppl not having to worry about insurance etc.

To my knowledge, Cali is red except for SD, LA and SF.

I heard they have more repubs than any state in the country.

But I don't understand this Repub sht talking on Cali when Florida, NC etc are still in shambles after the hurricanes

Republicans haven't broken 40% of the vote since Bush, I'm almost certain they will this next election. It may not make sense but the people will look for someone to blame and right now it's local democratic leadership

The damage these next few decades of generations of Republicans have done to their reputation in California is basically irreversible.

It’s like one of those “You’ve scared all the women off” things because they’re so loony.

They've let the Tea Party/MAGA ruin them. It is what it is. The ones with sense and values fell in rank in order to take control again. Pure cowards. And now the party is an intolerant, racist, ignorant joke that's going to bring down the entire country.

Pacific Palisades was founded in 1922 by Methodist residents.
Hollywood was laid out as a subdivision in 1887.
Calif has the 5th largest economy on the planet.
A lot of hard working people live in LA. Not all celebs.

Can't do it right now when the two biggest misinformation apps/sites are owned by right wing zealots.

What I can see happening is these guys hire fact checkers and put them in as one of the heads of their social media team.

I also think that soon people who are starting these misinformation campaigns get sued for it.
