Never heard of this dude. Cool. Reminds me of Black Thought. I hear a little bit of early Jay Z, as well.

Also, why does no one ever mention Rammelzee? He was more of an artist than a rapper, I suppose?

He was just a art dude. He did get Basquiat to do a song. That should be commended in lieu of gray hovas art collection.

Word. Wildstyle made it seem like he was someone that had a big place on the music side of things. Him holding the shotgun, pacing on stage and what not.

Caz voice changes track to track. One track he sounds like Kool G then the next KRS. Weird.

Browsing for some old gems on that 1994hiphop blog and came across this :leon:

http://www.1994hiphop.net/boogie-boys-‎-body-kmd-step-off-1988-vls-320-link-fixed-with-100-320/

"The significance of this Boogie Boys single is not the A-side single “Body”, but the B-side KMD Step Off. Around 1987 Kool Moe Dee annually (every year for about 5 years) graded the rappers of his generation in ten different categories – vocabulary, articulation, creativity, originality, versatility, voice, records, stage presence, sticking to themes, and innovating rhythms and The Boogie Boys got a low score. They got pissed and put out this little-known B-side as a ‘diss’ reply to Kool Moe Dee and his ‘report card’."

I never knew KMD did this. :ohhh:

i bookmarked that page for coffee tomorrow. best thread in a minute. we should branch this off into Spoonie Gee too. All that enjoy records stuff.

I never could lock down essential Busy Bee stuff either. Only his over the hill shyt from the late 80's ever seems available. I had Moe Dee roasting him on a tape.

since,..my uncle died.....
I have no way to get back in touch with busy bee.

he was the first person to officially endorse and was the first personality connected to my skate accessory product.

This dude is responsible for me being the voracious reader that I am now (aside from my own mother) since I didn't understand half the words dude was using in his rhymes and had to look them up. I can still recite every bar word-for-word to this track and 'Breaking Bells'.

Yeah, just keep in mind the Boogie Boys weren't primarily for parties at first, but for breakers (such as myself......:old:). My crew had a whole routine built around 'Shake and Break' which is an Electro classic. They got into party music with 'Fly Girl' which was a MASSIVE hit based off a sample of a relatively new song (at the time) titled 'Let's Go All the Way' by a group called 'Sly Fox'.

I remember this, there's a 90's one too. Then he did the book in around 2004.

I remember that diss to Moe Dee too. On a sidenote Moe Dee's book is a very interesting read. Hoping he does some more and reissues the first book too.
