I have Graduation as his best album also...:wow:

This was the first Kanye album I ever purchased. I know some fans look at as one of his weakest albums lyrically but with the way the songs were structured for stadium/big venues there was no need to be super lyrical. The songs were meant to be sung along too.

Sonically, it's a stadium rock album with synths, orchestras and rapping.:yeshrug:

The production was so diverse, colorful and the mixing was immaculate. Ye didn't go overboard with his ideas and stretch them thin like on MBDTF which is great also but I prefer a more compact Kanye.
This. All of this

Since we on the topic of Ye....anybody still fukk with 808s n heartbreaks?:patrice:....I know lot of folk thought it was "too soft" but imo its underrated

Then again I'm a weirdo thinks Yeezus was great

Yes! Streets lights is beautiful written and I love Yeezus. My only flaw with yeezus is the intro but if you’ve seen him preform it live it’s dope

Good take. Not only that but this album had a lot of variety in sounds. Kanye said he was going for a stadium album vibe, and besides Everything I Am, even the classic Ye/soul sample based joints on here sound pretty large and/or catchy (ie. The Glory and Champion).

Plus I always liked that this was the 1st Kanye album that stayed away from skits and might be the only one without longer outros or interludes.

It was also the start of Kanye being a boardroom director style producer. Dropout had an Evidence beat and Registration had a Just Blaze beat. Graduation however was the first time Kanye had damn a lot more outside producers like Nottz, Toomp, and Timbo.

Nottz murdered Barry Bonds too :wow:
Thanks for saying that. Nottz is one of my top 3 producers (if not my #1) to come from the late 90's/early 00's.

This album is where Kayne lost me

Then I was shocked most people were feeling it and realized Hip-Hop was going in a direction I couldn't fukk with

Don't like anything about this album its a dud in my book
I actually really liked the album and a lot of people will disagree with you but you aren't exactly wrong in that it did have a big influence on a. change in the direction of the sound. With the exception of a few joints, Graduation can be argued as one of the first albums where all the genres kind of blended together. It's super common now and popular mainstream music has all sorts of musical styles mashed together, but Graduation was one of the first albums released in the Hip-Hop genre to have Daft Punk, Coldplay, etc.

If you're saying it was well-made but that you didn't like the direction it was taking hip-hop (or hip-hop was taking it) then you make some good points.

Loved the album, and that summer/fall, but I despise Kanye now, and find it had to listen to, maybe that will change as years go on.

True classic
You can tell someone genuinely enjoys making music when they’re constantly experimenting
He switched it up every release, no two albums sound similar:wow:
