I get it, this is an attempt to settle (they actually asked for more!) by the Biden administration for something that happened under Trump...but it's one thing to lose a lawsuit, it's another to actually support these payments.
These people don't deserve anything and especially not 450k a person.

Edit: Also can someone answer this, what would have happened with the lawsuit if Trump or another Republican held office? Would they settle like this? Fight it?

There's statue of limitations for one? How are you going to prove your case? Yes, the government should pay reparations but how are you going to determine who's eligible? Who gets what amount? Etc. It should happen but it's not as easy as cutting a check. Where as with child separation there is a clear victim and clear timeline of of grievance. Would you be fine with the government just cutting every black American a check for $25K? I wouldn't.
