So they're just gonna build the foundation of those characters for nothing.
I doubt it. I think it's more so the older cast want to explore different things but I bet you they'll do a proper Batman spin-off so they can focus on Batman vs The Joker and have the old cast cameo in.
If there's anything I've noticed is that DC will greenlight anything

That's a good thing in my opinion. I loved/love comics growing up and yeah it's hit and miss with them but we've got LuciferThe green light anything comment
, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Gotham out of it.I'm sure they'll give Gotham a spin off because Gotham averages almost 7.5 million viewers per episode from the original 8mil from the 1st season that's a measly 1/16th of a drop off in viewership on live broadcast not including streaming and bootlegging.
I think it's reasonable that David Mazouz would be given a chance to pilot Batman. How could they not?

It’s lucky to be even getting a season 5.
Has nothing to do with the older cast. Dude who plays Gordon hasn’t done anything big since the OC before this.
It ain’t like the cast is full of major in demand actors.
Basically comes down to the ratings.
As for Batman/Joker that will never happen if WB keep acting stupid like they have.
WB won’t even let Gotham use the name Joker or let the actor dye his hair green.

Show wise he's actually closer to 18-19 like the actor because they do slight time jumps. They could do that and use Batman Year One as the final season while his rogues that are on the show will be fully transformedIsn't this nikka still like fourteen though
