I thought joker didn't become joker until batman came around? I guess it doesn't matter this is its own universe?

Is that the case in the comics tho? I mean in dark knight that seems to be the case, technically in first batman movie too.
My bad...that bingo was for your statement about Gotham being it's own universe.
Joker didn't show up till after Batman in the comics but none of that continuity matters to the Gotham TV show.

Yea i knew what you meant. I never really got into the comics but I know there is like at least 4 joker origin stories? batman and joker always seem to be around same age too right?
Joker's had a bunch of different origins but none of them are considered the definitive one int eh comics I think.
And with his background still being a mystery there really has never been a consensus on his age either.

CBS's chairman on airing Supergirl against Gotham and why she's not concerned

With the ever-increasing number of DC Comics-based shows on multiple networks, perhaps it was inevitable, but it was still noteworthy when CBS chose to program their new series Supergirl right up against Gotham on FOX this fall, with both airing Mondays at 8:00pm.
Today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, CBS’s chairman, Nina Tassler, was asked about this decision.
“Well, I think that they’re different audiences,” said Tassler. “I think Supergirl has a much bigger, broader audience. It’s more family entertainment. And they look different, they feel different.”
Tassler added, “We had 14.1 million streams of the [Supergirl] trailer. I don’t think anyone is worried about, 'Oh my god, there’s not enough audience out there to watch both those shows.' I think there will be.”
As of today, the initial Supergirl trailer actually has 14,200,000+ views on CBS’s YouTube channel and, by comparison, FOX’s original Gotham trailer has 10,500,000+ views on that network’s official YouTube channel - and considering that Gotham now been airing for the past year, the interest in the Supergirl trailer, at the least, is notable.

NIina Tassler is an idiot...you don't cannibalize your audience by airing a show based on a comic book directly against another show based on a comic book.
She's also betting that because it's on CBS, by the numbers it'll attract a bigger audience. I agree with you, but CBS has a lot of juice in this broadcast game
