Honestly, I've been a fan of Jessica's since like 07 and Gotham might be the first decent thing she's ever been in.

:jbhmm:Define decent because going over her filmography on Wikipedia, I like some of the TV shows & Movies she's been in (i.e. "Cloverfield", 2013 "Evil Dead" remake, the short-lived ABC Teen Drama "Life as We Know It", & etc).


:lupe: But I sorta get what you're saying. Did you hear Sepinwall & Fienberg's podcast this week disscussing the "Gotham" Season Premiere? They said this is the most engaged they've ever seen her in, on a movie or TV Show.

I am cool with it but I am also not holding this show to any pre-conceived notions I might hold about these characters.

I'll just look at it as Gerome meeting Bruce Wayne. Not Joker meeting Bats. Once you watch this series as a what if alternate universe (like a bunch of standalone comic arcs) then the show gets easier to tolerate with all the stuff they're changing.

I shoulda said the most decent TV thing she's been in. From Cult and Friends with Benefits to Gracepoint and Melrose Place, she's been in some shytty stuff. To be honest, she's not the best actress but she's not the worst.

Yeah I heard Firewall & Iceberg (RIP to the show) and I agree, she does seem engaged. But when you're damn near a 10 in the looks department and a 6.5 in the acting department, there's not a lot you can do, especially since she's not white. She's aged out of CW stuff, and she's not a strong enough actress (from what we've seen so far) to graduate to the good stuff, so she's in some kind of limbo. Before she was cast in this, she'd be one of the last people I would have expected to see doing this part.

I hope Gotham sticks around because I like her and a few of the people on the show like Ben McKenzie, and they deserve a good run on something more than some CW melodrama.
