So if Rollin Loud wasnt the new shyt they need to try, then what is the new shyt they need to try?
Ain't nothing wrong with trying. This what they "risk"ing though. WWE not poppin the way diehard wrestling fans and the WWE want you to believe. They have their very, very, very, strong 'universe' and it's all they need. But when they branch out this is the result they will get until they possibly catch a mainstream wave again.

WWE is the equivalent of YouTube celebrities. On the internet, a YouTube "influencer" can be huge. But in mainstream, he's just a regular joe like the rest of us. But long as that influencer has their millions of fans on the internet that's all they need to cater to.

And it benefits WWE a ton many times because nobody ever really cares like that when they do stuff that would get other major leagues in hot water like still give a push to a guy who just got his 4th DUI or have connections to the Trump administration.

This was absolutely the right idea but because literally nobody on their payroll is in tune with the culture that accompanys this show, it didn’t go how it should’ve. This was probably a Nick Khan idea to appear “hip and youthful” to a younger audience but their demos trend older and since they have no fingers even close to the pulse they missed the mark on this one. Some of the bigger and more notable names in current rap fukk with some wrasslers, it would’ve been smart to have those type of mainstream names on the show. Having a lower midcard match featuring Gable and Dawkins is letting those guys die a death because even at a WWE show in front of WWE diehards the reaction would be :ld: in a non pandemic setting, having that match happen in front of a sea of casuals was doomed. I mentioned this in the SD live chat but any combo or whatever of the likes of John Cena, Jeff Hardy, the Mysterios, Edge, Randy Orton, New Day, Usos, etc would’ve gone over better because those guys either already have an overlap with people who might be there recognition wise or they can work a match that’ll catch eyes that normally wouldn’t gaf.

Lil Uzi Vert, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage all performed this weekend, they all mention Rey Mysterio in a song, why not have Rey there? It’s tone deaf.
She from the six one nine, Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio
When I'm jumpin' off the top rope

Jump off the rope, Rey Mysterio (Straight up)

The problem wasn’t that WWE was there and that they branched out, it’s that nobody who is in the know knows how to reach an audience that is readily available and maybe even willing to watch their shyt who would be involved in this event on any level. They would’ve been better off performing at a rock/metal oriented festival if they weren’t gonna really try and obtain this crowd. Atleast Bianca looked good if nothing else and this will help her career out

So Cal
:mjlol: Throw 4 wrestlers nobody knows in front of a festival audience. :skip:

Jeff Hardy gets named dropped in rap so much, it's too easy to put him out there, of course wwe would fukk that up. But he's the only one. Maybe Rey, but they don't have star power like that anymore. Outside of those two, the McMahon Hemsley regime are the most known.

Put on a wrestling show in front of non wrestling fans brehs

Vince a lunatic. This shyt is like having Fiona Apple open for Uncle Murda
Doesn't feel like a Vince idea tbh, feels like something pitched to him by new management like Nick Khan.

Punishing the talent for not getting over is definitely up his alley though, watch Gable & Carmella fall on the sword for this :mjlol:

Breh, you mean the same generation people who memed the shyt out of Cena for the last 4-5 years, who get Jeff Hardy trending every other week because he was the shyt when they were kids, and who wear rey mysterio masks in public wouldn't pop for seeing them show up? :gucci:

John Cena
Jeff Hardy
Rey Mysterio
Randy Orton
Undertaker
Stone Cold
The Rock
Kurt Angle (Perc Angle is a legend)

Are the only wrestlers that people my age talk about outside of wrestling circles on Twitter.

If you ain’t those 8? :manny:

Great comparison because i didnt care one bit about Jake and Logan Paul until they crossed over to boxing

I guess WWE was trying to do something similar

I give Jake and Logan credit for crossing over to mainstream.

Meanwhile you got many YouTubers with 1-10 mil subscribers and they can be walking down your street right now and you wouldn't know them. Just like 90% of the WWE Superstars haha.

If you’re mid-late 20’s we’re in the same age bracket breh and you’re right, literally all them dudes would’ve gone over big at RL. As far as active talent goes just get The Mysterios, Hardy and Orton on a team versus some random heels, let them hit their finishers and pop the crowd and the WWE would’ve looked way better tonight.

And all those wrestlers listed are basically from 2-3 eras ago, which has been the most glaring problem they’ve had :mjlol: they basically bled the Attitude era dry, then started re-writing Ruthless Aggression era history and focusing on them. They may as well have sent Drew Gulak and Mansewer out there

You think a bunch of rap fans dig Wrasslin like that? There’s no doubt there are fans of both (we post on here, duh), but it’s not a big following like you think.

It’s cool the E tried something different, but they woulda been better off trying it at a rock concert.

Y'all clown them for their dwindling audience and being out of touch then they attempt to branch out to attract more people like us and y'all clown that :gucci:

There is nothing wrong with this move, the execution needs work and they should've done a better matchup than Dawkins/Gable, but it's something to build on going forward correcting errors. I'm not sure why they didn't just do Big E vs Apollo like originally planned especially since Montez can't wrestle atm.

The point is to get their modern day stars in front of an audience who identifies with them and hope that they attract people from that market, a black woman in the crowd very well coulda discovered Bianca for the first time and became a fan for life. Maybe they didn't throw out a nostalgia act like Jeff or Rey because they felt it'd take away from the modern stars they wanted to showcase, but maybe next time they'll send them and mix them up with someone modern for familiarity.

And let's be real if they woulda sent out Cena/Rey/Edge/Orton/Jeff y'all would have just clowned them for not having modern stars to send out

The whole point of this was to tap into the urban market and try to be more mainstream, black culture is pop culture. Doing a rock show accomplishes none of those goals. Would they have maybe had a more engaged crowd? Sure but that's not the point and it doesn't help them expand.

If you know the kind of people that most wrestling fans consist of then you should know that is not all they need. You should want WWE's audience to expand beyond nerd culture and attract more people like you especially when the audience that currently exists is made up of some of the most lowly toxic weirdos to exist.

Bro, you can't force mainstream attention. Don't get me wrong, this was a nice opportunity to gain attention (and maybe some eyes took notice), but it needs to come naturally. The last time the E had hype from the mainstream was DB's "Yes!" movement. They've done plenty of shyt outside of the norm (those WB cartoons, Cricket link up), but nothing has come out of it when it comes to gaining new fans.

They need STARS to get the attention outside the wrasslin bubble. Bianca is still on the rise. Carmella, Dawkins and Gable? Really? Why the fukk are they out there? :dahell: Why wasn't Sasha thrown in? She's the only one on the roster who comes to mind with some star power.
