I like this idea of turning the Ducks into the Hawks. Within the world of the ducks, it makes complete sense for them to be the hot shyt team. They became the team in Minnesota, won the junior goodwill games making them world champions, then became THE squad at a prestigious prep school.

Them being the plucky underdogs doesn't make sense and the show could be a Disney version of Cobra Kai

But bombay had to build the ducks from scratch tho... the hawks was already the number 1 team... why call the new series the might ducks if your not gotta replicate the original story?:heh:

Jesus Christ! I hope this show delivers. TFR gonna be lit. I still remember the jokes in the Mighty Ducks ranking thread.

A thread im still proud of
he retired by the third movie remember...:what: Took over otto's store...

Yup. stopped coaching hockey before Han's store, went back into law, and apparently got out of that too.

It's not replicating it to a tee at least we don't know that. im just saying in the context of that world, the ducks would be the new hawks. they'd be the prestigious team because the hawks probably aren't shyt anymore either.

Mighty Ducks as a series is and always will be about the underdog. how the hell can the mighty ducks as a hockey team, the same hockey team with a pro team named after them, be considered a damn underdog anymore?

It works when you're bringing back the same cast from the movies and we see them grow and change over time. Buuuuut all those cats are adults now lol so that ain't happening. Bringing in a new squad requires a new context. Mighty Ducks, much like Karate Kid, has always been in "the real world" so to speak. They don't operate outside of our world; the pro athletes in our world are the same in theirs. The music in our world is the same in theirs.

Once Bombay leaves the ducks and they become the logo of a prep school, its no longer in his image. And guys like Charlie and Portman and Russ aren't going to be prep school kids forever. There will be new kids on the team. Kids who don't have the same morals and values as the ones we saw grow up from nothing to something. So that's new leadership and a new coach since high school coaches don't stay around forever either :russ:

Every team, whether its pro or pee wee, takes the personality of the coach and the players. if your coach and players are a bunch of a$$holes, your team will be that.

Once again, Cobra Kai. That show remixes a lot of stuff from the Karate Kid movies and gives it a new spin. And it fukking works.

technically though, the ducks we know only existed in minnesota for a season though. all of the star players and averman were playing in the goodwill games and following that the prep school. so im guessing from their win, someone probably usurped the name, which is why hes still using the purple and golds instead of the wildwing variants that theyve worn since. but it still suck to see the team become the counter of everything it stood for, to the point that id rather bombay have to deal with a dead franchise and make something from nothing, because i dont see where they go from here if the new team wins

I hear that. But it makes less sense to me that the Ducks would still be this underdog pee wee team. if anything it ends with the name of the ducks on the line and Bombay trying to reclaim his legacy and the legacy of that team. much like Johnny trying to rehab the cobra kai name and image

it kinda does. all the talent left the team after the beat the hawks to go elsewhere, so the team in minneapolis would be pretty abandoned unless all the hawks simply changed monikers

See Im under the impression the team didn't become a pee wee team again until after they stopped being at Eton hall. Of course we'll see, but in my head, thats what happened. because they clearly weren't a pee wee team anymore once they played in the junior games and then went to a high school.

Sometime after '96, someone had to decide to start a new ducks pee wee squad.
