Above the fray.
The trumpies hate him bc of some of the shyt he said about trump in 2016, and he's never been able to outrun the reputation as a slippery flip flopper. Also the GOP doesn't like retreads.

Scott is an evangelical and again most importantly is that he is able to bridge the gap between trumpies and establishment conservatives.

You're going to see a lot of conservatives support him bc they believe it insulates them from accusations of being racists (at the same time they try to decimate black voter turnout) or that it somehow proves that the US is not a racist nation. Remember that was a real phenomenon after Obama was elected.

Koch style Republicans are going to push very hard for him because he has shown himself to be a reliable right winger and his selection will not hurt the ticket (which is rule #1 when selecting VP).
Thanks.
Rep.s haven't shown that they care about criticisms about racism or in proving that the country isn't racist in recent memory. If anything, Scott's selection would offend the rabidly prejudiced element of voters that Trump spent years riling up. Can't unring a bell.

Little Rubito might be done on the national stage.

Trump did that

"Biden had no chance of getting the nomination". If you go back to articles, and social media posts from before the South Carolina primary, you will read poli sci pundits, and regular people saying that like it was written in stone. I'm sure there are posts/threads here that were saying that.

As the demographic of U.S. voters trends more Latino, Rubio's stock might rise again.

Who cares what pundits or "regular people" were saying? Becoming a pundit has nothing to do with intelligence or the accuracy of their predictions and "regular people" think they know more about immunology than immunologists.

Yes the Hispanic vote is showing a greater willingness to vote GOP but a large enough shift to push a candidate over the top isn't going to happen overnight. Younger Hispanics (one of fastest growing demographic) still trend liberal.

one of the worst predictions ever :laff:

:yeshrug: we shall see

Considering the VP is often someone liked by the establishment, yes he's a favorite. He might not be used to win over black voters but moderate suburban whites who don't like the open racism would fall in love with him.

What will hurt Scott is not being black but not being married he'll be 59 by the next election without a wife...
