Mayor Dale Ross in Georgetown, Texas has converted his city to 100% renewable energy. He also gives GOP policy reasons for moving and supporting to renewable energy.

(Excuse the thumbnail title, it's click-bait and misleading)

Timestamps of Ross actually talking > 0:58, 3:19, 7:08, 8:56

For the conservative or GOP leaning folks,

Do you agree with his arguments?

Hang on, to be clear

I'm financially conservative
I'm left leaning socially and environmentally

Renewables are the future and this should be be embraced by both sides, not sure why it's a partisan issue other than old money wants to pay off politicians.

Idk I've lived around Rockefeller Republicans and idk I guess more classical conservative mindsets(that were rational/fact based/scientifically literate) so they tick a little differently but growing up in the north east they generally cared about the environment within the scope of their time period and were more in tune with economic realism. If they were saving the community money, making money for the community, and businesses and individuals were making money that was seen as their purpose. Where the Republicans are now at the national level is clearly an entirely different world but at the local level the things I mentioned and the guy in the op probably still ring true in many places. I haven't had a chance to watch the video, gotta run all over the city today, but will try when I get home.

I'm not conservative leaning either, OP.

Yeah, I don't really get people that say "I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative".

Those two things are pretty much opposite of each other. To be socially liberal, means that you should support programs and policies that protect marginalised people. Being fiscally and/or economically conservative literally advocates AGAINST of all that by letting "the free market decide" basically everything.

So basically, you saying he's conflating libertarianism with socially liberal.
Libertarianism, in general, is a terrible ideology unless you're rich (especially, if you're a rich White male).

I can understand someone wanting "fiscal responsibility" but if you're a social liberal, there's no way you can be a fiscal "conservative". That is because most of the main tenets of social liberalism REQUIRE lots of government spending and regulation.

"I'm socially liberal but fiscally conservative" = "I'm a Republican who smokes weed and doesn't go to church that much"

I'm sorry your school system was inadequate to teach you the basics of economy and social awareness as two separate ideologies .

No its a Democrat who doesn't believe that you have to spend to the point you're in debt to appease people who want free stuff.

It's a moderate who realizes that democrats have always Instituted economic policies that don't promote movements outside the social caste system by keeping people stuck in social welfare nets. Also continue to push policies to embolden other races other than non-blacks so they can continue to renege on the supposed 40 acres and a mule that was due to us.
