First of all the iPod is basically dead. If you have a smartphone, why do you need a iPod?
Battery issues for some. Android users who want the Apple listening experience. Storage capacity for musicians and heavy music-listeners.
I can go on, but while you are right in saying that the iPod's role in general music listening is shrinking, it occupies a lot of niche areas. And there isn't any competition.
Next, PCs and laptops are a dying species. Tablets will soon take over all the roles traditionally taken by both. iPad is still leading the game but for how long? You already got Microsoft putting out a tablet that does everything a laptop used to do. Soon you'll see others follow suit.
Expensive as hell. Some are more expensive that laptops. PCs will never be dead because they are still the holy-grail of computing tech. There hasn't been a single device since the PC's conception to trump it for all it offers. Almost every person owns a PC for various reasons: school, development, editing, writing, etc.
iPad is imo the best tablet, but Android tablets are becoming increasingly popular because of their affordability and quality.
Also, with Google taken the first step innovation wise in terms of wearable computing, there is a chance Apple could get left behind. Remember this already happened to them. I wouldn't be surprised to see history repeat itself.
True. Apple still delivers what is in my opinion the most accessible design of any device manufacturer, but they are starting to fall behind in hardware specs on mobile phones and facing stiff competition from Android 4.1 and soon to be 4.2.2.
However, for all its worth, Apple has revenue totaling that of Google and Microsoft combined. For the time being, Apple reigns supreme.
