Why shouldn't they have fun?

Besides, they are already making billions from its advertisements on its search engine alone as well as through Android. They have plenty of disposable money to try new things.

Google doesn't make money from Android OS.

They released it as an open-source project for anyone to use.

Google primarily makes money from advertising (obviously), Motorola, Nexus devices (not 100% sure since the last releases have been made by different phone manufacturers), and Google play.

Soon they will be making money off Google glass and mobile phones developed through their acquisition of Motorola Mobility.

Wouldn't say that. While Apple's share of the mobile phone market is shrinking (albeit slowly thanks to a superior OS in Android), they still build quality PCs and laptops (the best in the market imo).

Of course, never underestimate the power of the iPod either! lol

The IPod itself is also beginning to lose its influence as well. I see too many people using their phones as their primary mp3 device instead of carrying a 2 seperate iPhone and IPod devices.

True, but the iPod will always be around. Those fukking things have the strongest build of any device I've ever used.

They last a lifetime. The first iPod I bought still works, and I would be still using it if it didn't have such crappy storage capacity

Apple's share market is shrinking not cause of a "superior" lagging Android, but because Android 2.2 is installed on $50 "smartphones" which are bought by poor peasants with no money.

First of all the iPod is basically dead. If you have a smartphone, why do you need a iPod?

Next, PCs and laptops are a dying species. Tablets will soon take over all the roles traditionally taken by both. iPad is still leading the game but for how long? You already got Microsoft putting out a tablet that does everything a laptop used to do. Soon you'll see others follow suit.

Also, with Google taken the first step innovation wise in terms of wearable computing, there is a chance Apple could get left behind. Remember this already happened to them. I wouldn't be surprised to see history repeat itself.

That makes no sense about tablets replacing PCs. What about those IT guys that actually need to get into the depths of a computer in order to maintain and improve its efficiency. You can't do that with a tablet.

:rudy: and those $50 smartphones work just as well as Apples mediocre product at a premuim price

if I'm gonna pay top dollar, I might as well as get the best and that sure as hell ain't the iPhone

the Galaxy S4 and HTC One are both superior to the iPhone in every way

And neither of them will ever gain a strong loyal following that the IPhone has had for the last couple years. And they will still both be outsold by the IPhone just off of pure hype anyway.

maybe in the case of PCs that are required for computationally heavy work BUT with the exponential rise in computing power, tablets of tomorrow will be more powerful than the most powerful PCs of today

PCs will still exists but they won't be many around. How many people you know are still buying PCs? I haven't had a PC since 2005 when I got my laptop. Since then all my computing work has been done on laptops. Now I'm thinking about joining the tablet game and leaving the laptop behind. I assume many other casual computer users will be doing the same. shyt most people now use their phones for computing more so than their laptops.

Maybe you PC gaming nerds will still be using PCs, but most people will have moved from them since they are unnecessary. Everything you needed a PC to do yesterday is in a laptop today and will be in a tablet tomorrow.
