I am keeping an eye on all this but Google tracking your info has me kinda leery. All that technology is useless to me if I can't steal shyt online.

Obviously. Long term for this? nah. Google actually wants to get rid of the set-top box division of Moto. It's of no use to them, the only reason they haven't sold it yet is because the asking price is a bit high(~3 to 4 Billion). Google fiber was something google had in the pipeline for a while, has nothing to do with Moto's purchase.

And yeah to look at cloud/digital media and say it isn't the future would be stupid, but it's not gonna happen at the rate you think. The infrastructure isn't there and it's gonna be a while before it's readily accessible to everyone/mainstream. This is a step in the right direction and it will force the other companies to get off their lazy/greedy asses, but it's still gonna take some time. Physical and digital media are gonna co exist for quite while longer.
