Yes we all love the NFL. Yes we all want to see as many games as we possibly game. And yes we are thankful for Thursday Night football (if you have NFL Network :shaq: )
But good ole Roger loves safety and is trying his hardest to promote it and changing the game in ways to make it safer. That's his MO he's the safety guy. So why is he only giving players 3 days to recover from the hits and the pains they took the previous Sunday? NFL players barely recover, if at all, when they have 6 days in between games but now two teams have to lace em back up in half the time. Sure they get a few days extra on the back-end but that doesn't balance things out seeing how the damage has already been done.
I wish I could get a player's take on this.
Just something I thought about earlier today. Thoughts? Opinions?

Player safety is a crock of shyt, a lot of window dressing because of all the law suits.

Goodell's main goal and I can't fault him is maximizing the NFL brand.

I dont think it matters. I cant recall off the top of my head hearing any players complain about it. Players play with aches/pains/soreness/injuries all the time. Thats all part of the game and you cant prevent that stuff, whether its 3 days off or 6 days off. When talking about safety, its more about trying to prevent things that can be career or life threatening, such as the horse collar rule, hitting defenseless players, and shots to the head, things like that.

Same guy who was trying to get an 18 game season. He's a dictator, he doesn't have to be consistent or make sense.

not giving the small things time to heal lead to bigger problems. yes the players arent going to say anything publicly cause theyre programmed to shake everything off. But i'm sure privately some of the guys are like :why: i just played the other day. It's all player safety

That's what everyone focuses on but all that contact in practices and the short turnaround in games adds up.

Stuff like advocating an 18 game season undermines the player safety cause.

If the dudes are hurting like that and they're not ready to go, then they wont play :yesshrug: I don't believe small things like soreness from a hit they took 4 days ago is gonna lead to another serious injury, it might lead to them running out of bounds to avoid taking another big hit while they're sore, but its not putting anybodys safety at risk. Just my take on it

I see what you're saying, but its not happening on a regular basis. Meaning, The Bears are playing on short rest this week, but they dont have to do it for the rest of the season, other than after Monday night games. I havent looked at the full Thursday night schedule, but I'm sure the NFL isnt making teams play on that short of rest more than twice
