This is what pissed me off. It's not like Timberwolves were making tough shots or anything, they had so much space with each three they took.

Lakers gameplan was just hopes n prayers that they miss :mjlol:

Then you look at a team like Thunder and they defending every single little thing :mjcry:
That shyt does not feel like a viable defensive strategy. Like yeah Julius and Jaden will miss some but these are nba players lol. You can’t give them warm up jumpers without a defender near them.

Yes there is, the NBA literally keeps of record of stats based on that. :dahell:

In NBA shooting statistics, "tight" refers to a defender being within 2-4 feet of the shooter, while "very tight" means the defender is within 0-2 feet. These terms are used to categorize the closeness of a defender to a shooter when analyzing shooting accuracy and efficiency.

That level of contest is few and far between. But it does look good and sensational for that twitter post

There was no attempt where Lakers played tight or very tight defense going by those distances.

Even if you don't agree with that shyt, the main point still matters that Lakers still gave up 27 wide open threes and Timberwolves made 19 of them.

Look at the majority of these threes, they are wide open.

I already gave you that data and distances that T/VT are not significant contest ranges in any game

Most threes are WO attempts. I gave you the chart/data. Read it

The Lakers don’t willingly give up open 3s, it’s just a personnel issue of not having a legit defensive anchor, a 40-year-old and two white cats who don’t move the needle on that end of the floor.

With all the space that needs to be covered and the amount of aid that any particular player might need on any given defensive possession, it’s no wonder they struggle to stop teams from shooting open shots.

That won’t change until they make adjustments to the roster. It’s really as simple as that.

You provided me with data for the regular season when I am talking specifically about the Lakers/Wolves game.

Letting the Wolves shoot 27 wide open threes in the playoffs is not good, it's that simple. Most teams these offs have a couple of tight defensive possessions, and those possessions can be significant key possessions. I don't know why you would say there are of no significance in it just because of the regular season data.

I don't expect Very Tight defense to be something because that can easily lead to fouls, so that is to be expected.

The main issue is the shots being wide open, and Lakers gave up the largest amount out of attempts any playoff team so far. If you think that amount of wide open shots is normal in a game, idk what to tell you :yeshrug:

FROM MARCH 5TH....

LAKERS ARE IMPLEMENTING
THAT MAVS STRATEGY FROM
LAST PLAYOFFS WHERE THEY JUST
LOAD THE PAINT TO PROTECT LUKA
AND DARE TEAMS
TO BEAT THEM WITH THE 3 BALL.

IT DIDNT WORK AGAINST
SGA BECAUSE HE KEPT
STOPPING ON A DIME
AND PULLING
UP IN THE MID RANGE
AND DIDNT WORK
AGAINST THE CELTICS BECAUSE
THEY HAVE SHOOTERS EVERYWHERE.

WE'LL SEE HOW LONG
IT HOLDS UP FOR LA.

Lebron and Rui would say differently :dead:

But I agree for the most part, it seems most of the open three comes from a mix of slow rotations and overhelping. I don't know why some of the guys where helping Lebron when Randle was on him and leaving their guy open. Does Lebron really need help guarding Randle, he can't be that cooked :skip:
