what exactly is education?

The only education you need is how to read and comprehend what you are reading, and basic arithmetic (addition, multiplication, division, fractions and ratios)...

After that, you are just making somebody else rich because you don't have the balls to put it all on the line and go for it...

University is just somebody else scamming you, unless you want to be a professional (Medicine, Engineering) or a scholar (research)...

:ohlawd: Preach!!!!

He's kind of right though. No one asked me, but I'm going to comment anyway considering I'm a person with no credentials. I don't believe school is needed at all unless you want some piece of paper that shows people that you went thru the motions so you can work for someone else that is (no offense to people in school considering all graduates don't work for another person). Don't get me wrong though, as I do believe you have to be constantly learning and adapting in order to make it in this world. I just don't think people don't need to go to school to "get" an education with all the information out there readily available for free, depending on what you want to learn. But then again, what do I know? I'm just a high school drop out.
i agree with the general idea of this post. Unless you need a certification for what you want to do (law, health, etc), or unless you want to be highly employable, there's not much about your actual field you can't learn for free or way cheaper. The main thing school will teach you though is "how it works" in society (which by the way is still an asset). The trick is to learn the rules without becoming a slave to them and use them to your advantage.

Overall i think school can definitely be a benefit as long as you stay grounded and focused on your dreams and go for the right reasons, not just because "that's what you're suppose to do"...
