Did the concept that it was comic first before it became a movie get thrown in the bushes?

Movie was decent...

I thought the first half was damn near perfect, but then after he gets released and goes on his little quest to get answers.. the movie basically starts falling apart.. it just seems way too rushed in the second half of the flick.

Hopefully we get a directors cut of the movie.
lol the original was like that too tho.. 2nd half they was losing me bruh

Y'all do realize that most people (meaning Americans) haven't seen the original, right? That's why most remakes (of foreign films at least) are done...to bring a great story to a new audience.

It was new to me. I thought the story was great, but as dude said above, it fell apart and felt rushed he got out. I'm not sure if my gripes are mainly about the story, or Spike's implementation. He was able to solve the mystery way too easily. I suspect that was the story's fault. My other main gripe was that I didn't think they did a great job explaining that Sam was a warden in a secret prison for enemies of rich people. I spent the whole movie thinking that dude put all those people in that prison. Ending had me like :wtf: I suspect that's Spike's fault.

Or maybe I'm just a dunce and missed it? :manny:

Yo this sh1t was off the chain! for those complaining about it being a remake remember it was a comic before it became a movie, this is spike lee's take on the genre and it looks like he had fun since there are a lot of things that happen in the movie that you don't usually get out of a spike lee joint, like josh brolin fighting a crew of goons level by level in an over the top fight sequence.

finally got around to watching this. it was ok. the "original" was better, but this was still decent. things that stand out, the original was more over the top and had a creepy vibe throughout, and the hallway scene was epic. the ending in the first film i felt was too outlandish and kinda let me down. i feel like the first film really peaked with the hallway scene, but the overall atmosphere was cool. this one was more grounded, the fight scene was nowhere near the original (im interested to see spikes unedited version), but the ended was delivered better in this. im not one of those people who really loved the first film though.

Had low expectations for this and found it entertaining enough, but yeah, it was obvious from day one it stood no chance against the original, with or without studio interference.

Yeah they didn't really explain Sam's job, I read somewhere that there was a scene that explained it but it got taken out and the only thing left of the scene was the part where Brolin was listening to the tape of the rich dude acquiring Sam's help.

They did solve the mystery a lot easier in this version, thanks mostly to the characters use of the Internet.

In regards to the ending, this version was far easier to grasp than the first version. That shyt was way out there.
