For hotels I always use Priceline bid your own price, get a nice 4 star in times square for about 150 around that time, if not go for midtown east since its quieter.
If you want a cheaper option, there are a lot of hotels popping up in chinatown, there's a new wyndham hotel in chinatown, and a holiday inn.
For clubs I prefer the culture club in midtown east, it's older music but a good crowd, webster hall is always pretty cool especially if you're from out of town. Latin quarters is pretty cool if you like a smaller venue with spanish music, but personally the best clubs are west indian clubs in BK and Queens. m-15 lounge right by chinatown is pretty cool, 90s music, r&b/hip hop.
For bars, you can't beat LES, williamsburg, east/west village, i like going bar hopping when it's the afternoon time when they all got good specials since there's tons of bars in a small area.
For shopping, depends on what you like, but personally i like century 21 in downtown manhattan or the one in queens, they got pretty much everything and is much cheaper than other places, then there's 5th ave for the expensive stuff and Soho for the trendier stuff
I guess you can do the typical tourist stuff, central park, times square, ferry rides, chinatown, etc. NYC is all about the different culture so i would go to some ethnic neighborhoods to get a taste of the world at really cheap prices and queens is definitely the place for that.
