Speilberg knew back then that velocirators were small. He made them larger to make the story more entertaining. Just like Dilophosaurus being a spitter and having that shyt around it's neck (it had neither)

It's still a great movie, though. The way the effects hold up compared to movies that came out after it =
Don't get me wrong. It's still top 5 all time.
They also messed up the dilophosaurus. They never had hoods or poison, and they were pretty large- definitely bigger than a human.
After growing up and reading about that period, motherfukkers got it ALL wrong in terms of dinosaur behavior and appearances.

They have no idea what color they were, thats impossible to know, so all that is made up.
