Honestly, some time around the 80's women stopped taking on the typical role in a family seeing how they wanted something for themselves.

Problem is there aren't an unlimited amount of jobs, so that ends up with men having less jobs and a growing animosity.

Racial resentment is the main driver of right wing ideology. If you hate "the other" you'll always be drawn to that type of politics.
