Since when did dreads automatically become dissociated with black people?

They were called dreadlocks because black slaves transported from Africa would have their hair matted with blood, sweat, dirt, grime, whatever from harsh working conditions and from being stuffed in the underbelly of boats with barely any space...whites told them that their hair was dreadful...hence where the "dread" part came from.

This is a recent photo from this year. She was diagnosed and treated in 2011, not sure what your point is. Yeah she had cancer, but it was treated, and there is no reason why she should be looking like a Holocaust victim today.

Dude...When I first started blogging on tumblr...I followed this dreadlocks blog...

I'd have to say that 94% of the posts and pictures on there are of white people with dreadlocks...it's rare to see pictures of black people wearing dreads on sites like that.

It's funny and sad. White people have dreadlocks and people think they are cool. Whereas black people with dreads have to cut them off to get job interviews and are seen with suspicion for having them (ie chief keef type brehs with dreadlocks that are seen as criminal and involved with gang activity).

Just another episode of black culture being more "friendlier" and "marketable" when it comes from white people or other non black people.
