Timbaland was so much of a genius producer, he made Justin Timberlake cool. Even with The Neptunes producing Justin Timberlake's debut single, "Like I Love You" got a lukewarm reception. He was still just the dude from N'sync who was cosplaying Michael Jackson in look and sound. "Cry Me A River" changed that and legitimized Justin as a solo act. Granted, I look at Ginuwine's The Bachelor album as the template for Timbaland creating Justin's sound.
like i love you was lukewarm? iunno i thought that was a big hit. my bros and i played that track a ton

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Busy with JT prob
Timbo got butthurt cause Ginuwine wanted to try new producers and not only him. So he basically pulled all his beats from him and started working with JT. I swear to God JT is lucky as fukk because the shyt he did with Pharrell was supposed to be for MJ and that shyt he did for Timbo would’ve been for Ginuwine had they not fell out.

Justin had nothing to do with it. Missy, Timbaland, Aaliyah, and Ginuwine kind of drifted apart. They were fearured on each other's songs and videos, and even award shows. Then it was like we hardly saw or heard them together. Of course Tim and Missy remakned close, but they were cool with each other since high school.
Timbo literally got mad at Ginuwine for wanting to work with other producers as well. Tim was on some ego shyt with Ginuwine and that’s why they didn’t work together after that.

Jermaine Dupri bit Timbo for Usher’s My Way album with You Make Me Wanna. Ginuwine and Tim gave that nikka Usher the blueprint in the late 90s.

Nah, none of the songs Tim did for JT were intended for Ginuwine.

That’s also cause of the Brittney shyt. It was basically a Brittney Spears diss. But that whole first album was basically Pharrell. Rock Your Body, Senorita etc etc.

Of course, but "Cry Me A River" was still the biggest song off that album and was the one that pretty much made JT, which is why Britney fans stay coming for him.
