+ Foreign: $19,100,000 29.3%

It's a decent opening but the budget is too out of wack. They spent too way to much and for all that money it should of been more epic. Will it even past the originals?:

Ghostbusters 1984 (30 Million Budget)
Total Lifetime Grosses

+ Foreign: $53,000,000 18.0%

+ Foreign: $102,900,000 47.8%

This was another gay agenda flick from what I read in one review. Good luck with that, especially when you can't come up with your own franchise to ruin to make it happen.

46 million domestic is solid opening for an all female lead movie, but that being said, this movie is held to a higher standard than most due to the original cast/nostalgia.

Usually it is but not in this case. The budget was 144 million and that's not counting marketing.

All studios ever care about is breaking even and there's no chance of this movie doing that without China.

Their merchandise are falling off the shelves:
[Misc.] Ghostbusters toys on clearance already? (thanks to CthulhusGames for finding)

No girl wants to play with ugly women figures and little brehs won't play with female dolls as it they will get the raised eyebrow from their peers, thus stick to Marvel, DC, or Transformers. Forget merchandising and DVD/Blu-Rays sales, it is a done deal.

:russ:

I heard not one soul talk about this movie. I can't believe it even made $46M.

Wikipedia said:
Ghostbusters was released on June 8, 1984 in 1,339 theaters. It grossed $13.6 million on its opening weekend[10] and $23 million in its first week, setting studio records at the time.[11] The film was number one at the box office for five consecutive weeks, grossing $99.8 million.[12] After seven weeks, it was finally knocked to the number-two position by Prince's film Purple Rain, at which point it had grossed $142.6 million, second only to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as the year's top moneymaker.[13] Remarkably, Ghostbusters then regained the top spot the next week, and again six weeks later.[14] It went on to gross $229.2 million, making it the second highest-grossing film of 1984, behind only Beverly Hills Cop.[15] Adjusted for inflation, these figures put it within the top 40 highest-grossing films of all time.[16] Box Office Mojo estimates that the film sold over 68 million tickets in the US in its initial theatrical run.[17] A 1985 re-release raised the film's United States gross to $238.6 million ($525 million in today's dollars[18][19]), surpassing Beverly Hills Cop[20] and making it the most successful comedy of the 1980s.

:wow:

The box office was a lot different back in the day. It's almost unheard of for a movie to regain the top spot, after losing it, nowadays.

They fukked up when they made it an all female cast.
Man, it's actually sad when you think of the ramifications of this.

Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel better put in work.

I don't even think that all-female cast was the problem...3 of them being over 40, 2 being overweight, was the problem.

Sony just gave up. They knew that this reboot wasn't a good idea and tried to quash any sane reasonable opinion.

That's their fault

With all of the steps to take to approve any film how the fukk can a studio in 2016 still drop the ball like this?

This reboot seemed like a bad idea from DAY ONE just like it was retarded of Reitman and the rest of the original cast to not have shytted out 4 more of those movies. Ghostbusters II wasn't a hit like the first but they still ate off of it like crazy and still walked away with $200mil.

Either you do a proper reboot or do it 007 style with faux continuity where the character lives forever like a fukking comic book character
