Who been saying Pretty Toney is a bad album? :what:

That album is great.

People hate on the album off the strength of that Missy song, but that album is my 3rd favorite from Ghostface and has some of his best tracks.

any album with this

'My Timbs start feeling like they Nike Airs on me' :ahh:

I don't know if a thread already exists but this convo has inspired me to rank Ghost's albums. so I'm going to try...

  1. Iron Man
  2. Supreme Clientele
  3. Fish scale
  4. Pretty Tony
  5. Sour Soul (Criminally Slept on, under-appreciated and overlooked classic. Beautiful album)
  6. Big Doe Rehab
  7. 12 Reasons to Die
  8. Bulletproof Wallets
  9. Apollo Kids
  10. More Fish
  11. 12 Reasons to Die II
  12. Wizards Poetry
  13. 36 Seasons (Would be ranked higher if there weren't so many features but overall dope album)
Intentionally Omitted: All Wu-Tang Clan and Raekwon albums, Wally Champ, Shaolin's Finest, Ghostdini The Great, Hidden Darts, Theodore Unit, Brown Tape (Probably a top 10 GFK album overall but it's a remix album so it can't be by default), Wu-Massacre, Wu- Block.

:ohlawd: this nikka is so prolific. None of these albums are wack to me BTW...this is just a ranking. Did I miss anything???

That's my GOATface. :to:

For me, I'd flip Fishscale with Iron Man, then flip Pretty Toney with Big Doe Rehab. But you listing these just shows how strong a catalog he has, to where some b-side type albums (Apollo Kids and More Fish) are better than most people's actual albums. Supreme Clientele is when I started putting GFK in an elite category, and Fishcale is when he became my favorite rapper.

Pretty Toney was dope. At the time it was his worst album to date, but the shyt is still fire.

Wise is one of his most underrated gems, shoulda been on all versions of Supreme Clientele.

Edit:
Found this:

“I wrote this next song for Wise…That’s my brother right there…
My brother just got shot. I was down in Miami.
One night, I went outside to the beach with a box.
I was the only one out there at the time.
I threw on the Dramatics’ ‘In The Rain.’
I took a couple of pulls off weed n’ shyt.
It started raining – and the song is called ‘In The Rain.’
It was like a coincidence on how the shyt was going down.
I started catching the rhyme. First line, second line.
And the more I wrote, the more it rained.
But I was like, fukk it, because there was an energy that just kept me there.
A force, knawmean? Every time I wrote a line and then thought I might change it, it would rain harder, like it was saying, “‘Don’t touch nothing.’ So I’d keep it.
I was out there for four or five hours. And you know how big the beach is.
I looked out at the water, and it was just mad dark.
And I’m on the sand. And I’m writing about Wise.
So, you know, I started crying a little bit.
As the tears was coming down, something said, ‘Turn to the right.’
I looked over, and there was a pyramid built in the sand. Outta nowhere.
The music was still going. I got up, walked around the pyramid three times.
Said, ‘All praise due Allah.’ Couple of tears come out again.
But it was all good. Because I was there. Y’know? And I was free.”

Nah I respectfully disagree. Ghost is spazzing at top speed that whole album, I think if you threw in an introspective track like that on it would fukk up the record's flow. Would have been a better fit for one of his more soulful albums like Iron Man or Pretty Toney.

Cobra Clutch on the other hand... :wow:

Sour soul is the best project he had in years to me. Way better than the Adrien Yonge projects and such. Vintage ghost. Nikkaz slept so hard.
Tbh i never gave it a listen cuz i dint wan let me soul hurt after big doe n apollo kids being lackluster. 12 reasons was dope tho. Gon take the time now tho

Pretty toney era ghost was great.

Coming off the light hearted bpw

Holla. Run. Metal lungies. Guerilla hood.

Whole buncha travks i cant even remember off top but were unreleased.

That ghost travk tonys got my money the de la track he pit as a solo. Classic ghost shyt

U really dont like these songs?

Wise and holla are straight classics

Never liked those songs to be honest, breh.

I think Holla is decent and is the best attempt at "rhyming over a soul record" approach. Fundamentally, it's just a wack idea. And like others said, it's too busy and doesn't work.
