For some reason I can see Anna Faris in this. That movie where she ate too many pot brownies was stupid, but I laughed really hard at her playing that part.

I keep seeing Emily Blunt's name as being funny in different places, but I looked at her IMDB and I haven't seen a single thing she has been in.

Seems like a safe bet Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig could be in it given history.

You know what I just realized tho....

This generation doesn't have any comedic greats like the previous generation did.

No Steve Martin's or Chevy Chase's or Dan Akroyd's or Bill Murray's or Eddie Murphy's.

Instead we get... Jack Black. And fukking Seth Rogen. :smh:

That's why this won't work.

I still say this is the only way to continue ghostbusters if you want to continue it. Clearly Dan Akroyd has been banging that drum for years but as time went on and people passed away, the only way to do it now would be a straight reboot with no connection to anything that came before it and do it from a different perspective

And Paul Feig's response to that whether you agree or disagree, is that it can't be a gimmick if it comes from a guy who's first thought is to write for women in mostly everything he does.

That makes it even more of a gimmick. It might be the fukking definition of a gimmick.

In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature.

Yup, it is a gimmick. Which I guess makes Feig a pretentious b*stard as well for pretending it's not.

Meh I disagree breh. If a studio came to me and said they wanted me to make a horror movie then it's on me as the creator to find a way that works for me to do it. If that's his way in, that's his way in. For it to truly be a gimmick, it would be a movie that has women in it but doesn't truly give their point of view or do anything different with the material, that's a gimmick. But if the film does different things, goes in different directions, follows its on beats and shows it from different perspectives, then it doesn't fulfill that last part of the definition.

You could argue that Friday the 13th is a gimmick: It takes what halloween does and just switches out babysitters for camp counselors with the added fact that the killer is an older woman but what makes it unique is the motivation of the killer and the mythology. It copied the formula but did its own thing with it. And when it comes to Ghostbusters, if dudes are so high and mighty and don't want to see it, then don't see it. It won't ruin the legacy seeing as how the first two movies are already made and if we're being honest, the 2nd isn't that good; it has moments but the first is far superior. Then we've got the cartoon, and the sequel to that cartoon and several video games, some of them terrible, one of them good. This movie won't be the thing that finally sullies the name of ghostbusters because it's not like it's this sacred cow that no studio has touched since 1989
