This is what kills me. They act like this dude is some up and coming 23 year old phenom. He will be 33 soon without fighting a B fighter. How do we know "Cotto will never take that fight" @JohnnyTruant? He didnt even let the dust settle from his previous fight to be certain. They rushed into this fight the day Murray fought. He would have had enough time to "negotiate through the media" and show the world people are ducking him if he were going on sports shows talking about who he wanted to fight and nobody responding. Im not even saying nobody is ducking him. Im just saying if you are the hot commodity, use that leverage to get the big fights or use it to prove people are ducking you.

Man he has called out Cotto on numerous occasions, most recently after his last fight. And common sense tells me Cotto never takes that fight - he's too small and it's too dangerous a fight for someone at the tail end of his career. If it does happen I'll be more than happy to admit that I'm wrong, but it won't.

The reason he rushed into the Murray fight is because he plans to fight four times next year... is that a bad thing? Better he should only fight once or twice and spent the rest of his time "negotiating through the media" for a Cotto fight that is incredibly unlikely to happen? Come on man.

Its a bad idea if he fights 4 :patrice: fighters. I would rather see 2 big fights personally. If he squeezes in a B+ or better fighter in the 4 I would say the strategy paid off though.

Man I'd love to see him in a big fight as well, but that just brings me back to my original point: there are no big fights available to him. I mean, name one big fight that has a realistic chance of happening in the next year. I certainly can't think of one.

Personally, I think GGG fighting four times next year is him making the best of a bad situation, and a good look. Nothing wrong with an active champion.

All B level, IMO
That's an insult to b level fighters. Zab is a b level fighter and he's HOF imo, those guys were never close to zab's level.
Broner is b level right now, yet i'm suppose to believe those guys are the same level as broner? :stopitslime:

Zab was A-, Broner is B+ IMO. I don't know, maybe I'm being too pedantic with my ratings... I consider the fighters I listed B level, or B- at the very least. Allow me to explain:

Murray - capable, strong, and gave Martinez a great fight in Argentina (arguably should have gotten the decision)
Geale - former title holder, and was a top 5 ranked middleweight at the time of their fight
Macklin - gave Martinez a VERY tough fight, was robbed when he fought Sturm in Germany. Not an ATG, but a very serviceable fighter
Steven - maybe I was being a little too generous including him in this list, but he is a known KO artist and was having a good little run at middleweight leading up to the fight
Rosado - again, maybe slightly generous adding him to the list, but dude fights with a ton of heart, gave Quillin a very hard time in their fight before it was stopped, and is coming off a KO victory over Brian Vera (not exactly a world beater, but still)

Don't get me wrong, none of the people listed are elite level, but they aren't bums, either. They are solid competition, IMO

:ehh: I agree they aren't bums but they aren't B fighters to me, high level c fighters imo. Murray can change that with a win over ggg though since most believe he beat martinez and sturm it would show he is consistent.

Fair enough, I suppose it's all a matter of opinion. Like I said, I can see Stevens and Rosado being left off the list, but I think Murray, Geale and Macklin deserve B level status due to their accomplishments

Not GGG's fault he's getting hyped like this.

  • At least it's not the same level of Donaire delusion, who was winning 120-108 against Argentine bums and HBO making excuses like "he was afraid".
  • At least it's not the same level of Ward delusion, where HBO is hyping up a retired fighter who hasn't fought for a year and probably won't for another.

Now a guy is actually KO'ing all his opponents and people hate him for it?
