Good posts but as you can see, this is where Im confused about his supporters. You say he only spars against HWs and we should respect him for that. OK cool. But then a video surfaces of him sparring against a past prime Shane that looks 15-20 lbs smaller than him. On the video he is out muscled, out classed and gassed after 12 minutes. Then you say don't worry about sparring. Add that to him not beating anyone as a pro and already being at the peak years as a boxer in terms of age. Can you see why there are doubters of his? I could be wrong and he could be the next great, but I just don't see it yet.
thats fair to say that you don't believe hes great, or his resume is great.
im jus saying, don't blame GGG for that.
everone ducking him. hes in a thin division.
GGG has done exactly what he was supposed to do up to this point in his career. They have put progressively better gatekeepers in front of him, and he has absolutely demolished them (Just as he was predicted to). So GGG has done his part of the bargain. in order to b an all timer, and really get respect, i totally agree with you he gotta defeat some higher calibur fighters. But thats not really on GGG. its not liek the floyd argument, where ppl can arguably say taht floyd has avoided the best competition in their prime.
GGG simply has NO ONE legit he could beat other than ward. ANd no one can see that fight happening for so many reasons. maybe quillin or something liek that? iono, his pickins are pretty slim TBH.
i think when he retires he'll be one of those fighters ppl will always wonder: "man i wonder how good he really could have been if he had challenges."
also, for what its worth, i think he would absolutely demolish cotto, sergio, canelo, and obv floyd. but i wont give him credit for that cuz he is "bigger" than them. thats my 2 cents.
