Man, every rookie has it hard coming in to pros. The vets do this to everyone in all sports. You can’t name a sport where vets are going easy on rookies.
It ain't about going easy, they are very clearly jealous of the attention she's getting. Hipchecking players off the ball on an inbound play ain't some "welcome to the league" hazing, it's just being an angry dyke. Plus we know how it goes down in the locker room. These heaux be peer pressuring straight women to go full les, and if you fight back you're just bullied more. The NBA doesn't have that problem.

They put a target on her back, she has to fight out of it.

They put a target on Wemby's back too and players attacked the fukk outta him on defense, but he proved you don't try him like that.

They tried to get switches and shake him on the perimeter, that didn't work.
They tried to post him up physically, that didn't work.
For every time dude gets dunked on he has multiple jaw-dropping defensive plays so now everybody thinks it over when they see him.

Caitlin has to prove they can't try her like they have been.

Rookies with hype always have a target on their back. It's their job as a player to let the league know what they're doing isn't working. The fact she's turning the ball over so much, struggling and shooting poorer than usual shows it's working.

You think it's rookie hazing, but it's not. It goes from Rookie hazing to "Yeah, this is a legit weakness of their's" real quick.
You think they're going to stop doing this next year or the year after or five years later if she's still in the league and it's still effective?
No, they won't - until she shows them that tactic doesn't work.
If that's the "Caitlin Clark Defense" then it's not going to go away until she can beat it reliably.
It's that simple. It's not only on her, but it's mostly on her to make the changes and improvements.

Side note, Ogunbowale is #4 in Free Throw attempts and is shooting 95% from the line. That's wild.

Exactly! She is getting all the perks and endorsements off the court, but nothing is given while actually playing on the court . Everything must be earned. She looks like she has the work ethic to figure things out. It's all just a matter of when.

It's a hipcheck, not a shank in the prison yard. Calm down.

How long does it take to rebuild a wnba team?
Great question.

@Tommy Gibbs . You're the old head around these parts, so expound.

If you're wondering when Clark will start winning, you're gonna have to wait until A'Ja Wilson and Vegas fall off because them níggas are lethal:wow:.

It varies. One pick can change a franchise around. Delle Donne was drafted in 2013 after Griner and the Sky won in 2015. The Mercury won in 2014 a year after picking Griner(we had previously won in 2009 and obviously tanked for Griner). And then you have the Aces who built their team thru the draft and signings. So it can be one player, a coaching change, and free agent signings. Stewie was already a 2x champ with the Storm before she decided to sign with the Liberty and instantly made them contenders with a finals appearance

Yup, that's the thing about windows

It also only gets more difficult because she has a wave of high-potential rivals just like her waiting to get into the league like Bueckers, Watkins, etc. and all the other new girls that she'll inspire.

It's like when Curry invented that style, now everybody uses it and it's only harder when everyone else can evaporate/stack leads.
