I’m not sure why this is news. Agents strategize about interviewing subjects all the time. They are also not required to explicitly warn about 1001, but if they do it puts the subject on notice and makes their lies clearly knowing and voluntary.

You know what's amazing? This interview with Amash (in June 2016) was the same day I interviewed Mulvaney on the same subject.

With his trademark swagger, Mulvaney predicted conservatives would hold the line vs. President Trump. Amash was far less certain. The rest is history...
