How the fukk you in the country with no docs 10+ years? :dwillhuh:
:skip: why are people still asking this question? There are fixed maximums on the number of people granted permanent residence per year. And since there are far more people who are applying each year than the maximum that will be accepted, you basically end up on a wait list. And in many cases, it's not even a wait list, it's a lottery. Each year, you have some chance to get picked, and if you don't win the lottery that year, you're no closer to getting picked. And so it can take years. This doesn't even factor in all of the requirements and tests and fees. Like I honestly don't think most people understand how hard it is to become a legal citizen even when you cross all of your t's.

This was 20 years ago but I used to work at a car wash and one of the guys there got a letter from an attorney having to do with taxes and the SSN he was using belonged to someone else in Oregon who got audited. All of this extra income showed up that he couldn’t explain.

The employee was one of the best and he said to give him a few weeks and he’d go get another number :lolbron: Owners just turned the other cheek and a few weeks later ol’ boy was working again.

That being said documentation verification isn’t the responsibility of the employer and nor should it be. :manny: The system is all backlogged and most of these cats fly under the radar and want a simple life.

Because proof of citizenship isn’t required for much in this country. Especially in NYC

Yup the SD have never asked me "paper please" in public

The only time it ever comes up is federal property

I remember when people in this country used to mind their business particularly conservatives. Sad.
