why are people still asking this question? There are fixed maximums on the number of people granted permanent residence per year. And since there are far more people who are applying each year than the maximum that will be accepted, you basically end up on a wait list. And in many cases, it's not even a wait list, it's a lottery. Each year, you have some chance to get picked, and if you don't win the lottery that year, you're no closer to getting picked. And so it can take years. This doesn't even factor in all of the requirements and tests and fees. Like I honestly don't think most people understand how hard it is to become a legal citizen even when you cross all of your t's.How the fukk you in the country with no docs 10+ years?

When that mandatory e-verify hits..That being said documentation verification isn’t the responsibility of the employer and nor should it be. The system is all backlogged and most of these cats fly under the radar and want a simple life.
