I don't want to come across as micro analyzing, but this is a civil lawsuit against the state of NYC for immigration law violations by DOJ. This is common. These aren't criminal charges. States VS DOJ civil lawsuit happens all the time. I don't want to say it matters only that you or we, or whomever get everything 100% factually accurate. I guess just think of like this is how quick false/misleading/incomplete information flows.
