It's a viable career path.

It shouldn't be a hard concept for Millennials and Gen X to understand - but they do.

Youtube and social media fame turns into literal cash - why are people acting like you can't make a good living on TikTok and IG fame?

As many people as I grew up with who wanted to be actors, rappers, professional sports players, etc. The social media fame sphere is more accessible and pays dividends sooner. One of my students a few years ago had like 150k followers on IG and used it to sell hair and promos -

yup.

A well timed tweet for instance can literally change your life.

People gotta stop being so cynical about the power of social media just because of the “bad” that comes along with it.

Fame has always been sought after, now it is just easier to achieve.

This, not sure why the oldheads in this thread are being obtuse.

bitterness.

Not even in a dissing manner but that feeling of

if I had all these tools at my disposal as a youngster to get famous for what I perceive as them merely existing.

is a lot for some to process.

I’ve been guilty of it myself pondering what I’d have done with a Twitter during the attitude era of pro wrestling.

I say that as an old head.

Thing about it is there’s lanes for old heads too on these things.

You don’t need to dance on tik tok, share some knowledge in a witty way, there’s a very young audience there that doesn’t know most of the things old heads tend to assume everyone knows.

Big brothers, uncles, aunties etc with a little swagger and a non-judgemental approach is a whole wide open lane on social.
