Cause the undercurrent of this is saying Boomers need to get out the way and let the next gen fix the mess they made.
I’d rather we put more energy into fixing rather than going back and forth about generations

And boomers don’t necessarily have to get completely out the way because they are an important piece to calling out bullshyt, I need to see boomers out here fighting for higher wages and better retirement benefits and social security and some more shyt

they know first hand the reality of the world today they lived during times when rent wasn’t even an 100 dollars so they should be the main sympathizer for gen x, millennials, gen z AKA they kids and grandkids who will be the only ones to really watch out for them when they older

I don’t like this strategy of “hey let’s wait till they die off to get some power”

I don't think a lot of people are seeing them call out the bs, so it looks like most of the boomers are fine with the status quo.

They don't want to work for the opportunities available.
Somebody served them the narrative they didn't have to.
Voting away inheritance rights for property taxes will hurt them in twenty years.
Cities aren't being built fast enough, so the economy is locked in urban areas.
New apartments won't make rent cheaper if people aren't leaving them for houses.
Slow housing development, racist and corporate real estate practices, and comfortable renters...
Gen Alpha won't be able to afford rent. By the time millennials inherit US politics, they're going to try to bring in a strong welfare state that won't be sustainable... because people either won't want to work or will be unable from AI. Career type jobs are hiring because their force is aging out.
The opportunity is there.
A lot of people might miss this post, but I'm a quote it because you are telling no lies.

A lot of people across all generations have picked up soft skills and aspirations to be famous because of the internet/social media. You are right. Opportunities are there, but they aren't promoted and they aren't flashy as being an influencer. There's so many job shortages related to trades and in industries that will always be around, but people don't have the necessary skills to work them.

The advancement in AI is really going to put a spotlight on how valuable blue collar trade skills are SOON.

Ya'll keep parroting this like people aren't looking for work :dead:

go hop on reddit and it thousands of posts of people saying shyt like "put in 500 applications, no call back" etc. When I got laid off from my job at the bank I had to look for a new gig for 4-5 months and my resume is fine. These were not "flashy" jobs I was seeking out either.

Trades are there, but just like everyone is not built for office work, or military, or being an engineer you cant just say. go be a tradesmen. one shoe can't fit everyone.

That's because as a country we have moved away from pushing kids in that direction.

You're right, you can't just go from being a person that works in an office to being a certified electrician, or a welder or anything like that. What I'm getting at is society promoted and valued college/higher education more than developing trade skills. Now, with generative AI, a lot of work that people do in an office that they went in debt for to even have a career will be phased out dramatically.

Now we are looking at a large amount of our society that don't have any trade skill who have a skillset that won't amount to shyt for many businesses.

That's not the case for me, I WANT fixer upper because I hate how these flippers have painted all these houses "Gentrification Gray", I can do my own thing and don't want to pay for half-assed rehabs. But the fixer uppers are priced crazy. I've been tracking tons of homes in my city and there were programs the city put in place for home builders but they were taken advantage of during COVID. I spoke on it in the past but, they had a program where empty lots were supposed to be sold for affordable houses to be built on. The land was sold for around $500 when land normally is $20k. The houses were supposed to be built in the $130k range by the developers because those were the conditions of the program....one these companies bought over 40 parcels of land and built $400k houses around the city where the next door neighbor house has an appraisal value of $80k. The "cheap" ones they built were $170k and those are right in the middle of the hood.:martin:

I know some of y'all look at these numbers like it's affordable but I also mentioned before that Sherwin Williams was paying $14hr for chemists and required a chemistry degree. So that's the type of wages that are out here. Which is why I said the median income is crazy low here. I remember seeing a now hiring sign at Hobby Lobby offering $12hr and these the types of income the majority of folks have because the poverty rate is so high.

Those houses that could be fixed are too far gone they'd have to be razed and on top of thst the neighborhoods are HORRIBLE. There are bodies in alot of those abandoned properties too, it's just all bad. I can see why younger folks have no hope because the stuff is going down in real-time.

Detroit what city ?

I bet EVERY 'Gen-Z' has the latest iPhone.

There's your rent.

Priorities......what are those???

:mjlol:
Theres are several billion more mobile phones on earth than there are humans. Mobile phone hustling is a big business in so called "poor" or underdeveloped nations in the world. These devices aren't considered luxury items now. Lil Rumesh will have access to an off market mobile by the time he's old enough to work at the factory, at 8

It's crazy seeing some of you turn into the young nikka turned old-head conservative trope, 20 years ago ya'll would've been the crazy old cats on the porch telling kids to pull their pants up and shyt lmao.

No point in trying to educate the old and ignorant though, practically speaking they matter a whole lot less in society and they're more stuck in their ways so it's a waste of effort. Radicalizing the kiddies to change is a much better use of time.
The funny shyt is, ain't nobody going to be able to afford to take care of their old asses
Mama need help and you already struggling to make ends meet in an apartment

I'm so confused why is there so much hatred for the youth? Numbers have been provided that show things are rough out here and yet the Coli being out of touch and miserable as always is have a bootstraps jamboree in here. terrible.
Honestly an embarrassing display by the old heads of the coli. We’ll spin the block on this thread in 5 years and these takes are going to look so unbelievable and idiotic.

Gen Z don't want to work hard and sacrifice they want work life balance.
They want to live a luxury lifestyle, they think luxury is the standard.
They want to live in big cities where the action is
They want to be social media stars. Presenting a false image of luxury on social media is more important to them.
Hard work dirty work is beneath them.

There are plenty of opportunities out there if you want to work hard. Trades are where it's at. My younger brother works on power lines in the Midwest. He been making over 100k since his mid 20s. Of course it's dirty, a bit dangerous and you get called out at 2am Everytime there is a big storm. Another friend of mine works on boilers. He just bought a S550 in addition to his other vehicles.

Gen Z wants to start at the top yet have no experience.
