What did us latchkey kids do to hurt anyone? We got the blessing of living in the analog world too before everything went digital. Got the best of both worlds in that regard, though many of us had parents who were all out working all the time and we had to grow up a lot. Breh at 13 I was at Central Middle down on 36th and Linwood in Kansas City, Missouri. I was worried about getting pressed by Crips for wearing the wrong fukking color shirt....I didn't have the luxury of looking at my smart phone, worrying about some shyt in China, half way around the fukking globe.

Global warming? Again, during the 80's we had nuclear attack drills. Designated areas to flee to, in the event of a nuclear attack. Which was fukking pointless, but you don't know that as a kid. Everybody was gonna die. You wasn't gonna go wait it out in the gym.

School shootings started in the 80's, btw. Didn't start, as they existed prior to that but school shootings as you currently know them, started in the 80's.

That isn't even taking into account the gang aspect. Again, kids had guns in my middle school.

Keep in mind in addition to dealing with all that as kids....we gotta deal with everything currently going on, too.

And for the record I'm not discounting every thing you're saying. I actually mentor a couple Gen Z kids. But aside from idolizing certain pop culture aspects of the 80's and 90's....they made it 100% clear to me they'd never want to actually grow up in the 80's and 90's, because of everything I'm mentioning. to me these where my supervisors in various jobs...older friends from the neighborhood.. guy who either where graduation when i joined or young teachers...

Gen X had toxic masculinity and all the women in the generation had the toxic femininity going on too ..

Gen X started calling women bytches and hoes in public .. now decades later those same women start the Me Too movement

A lot of baby daddies and baby mamas were created in Gen X .. and since both men/women were all used to being alone growing up and entertaining themselves, break ups weren't a big deal or being a single parent so it seemed at the time ..

I peep that a lot of single moms from that generation used the kids as weapons and turned the kids against the pops and demonized the fathers ..

Fathers were still young at the time and court systems were instinctively not trusted and men knew odds were against them , so custody battles and resentment rose

By the time the fathers were old enough to have their life and game together they learned trades , started businesses , bought homes and worked they ass off to pay child support and save their credit..

A lot of baby mamas I know blew the child support on themselves , and tried to go to school to get useless degrees and told the kids (Gen Z) to do the same ..

Now kids and moms resentful at pops .. who either moved on , GMB , and bubbled and try to give advice to their gen Z kids .. but its too late and nobody wanna hear it
