That’s fair.
Therapy only became “acceptable” in this recent generation tho.
The only people we saw seeking therapy were alcoholics and drug addicts, not “normal” people who severely needed to unpack bullshyt their parents put on them because they didn’t have time to tend to their own trauma
As a Generation X’er I’m excited to see what the young folks do going forward because y’all have a self awareness to realize y’all aren’t ok. .. we didn’t because we had to tuck our feelings under the “leave me the fukk alone” mindset we adopted thanks to boomers who didn’t know what to do with themselves as they grew up off their parents success
There’s a LOT of folks walking around in clear need of therapy in 2020.
The cooler going and getting help becomes the better
and Millenials/GenZ seem on the cusp of tending to how they’re feeling by being open about it.
Y’all are under a pressure no other gen has had to endure. We could take an L and go away to quietly deal. Y’all can’t.
Y’all are ON 24/7 you can’t catch an L in private anymore.
If a kid pissed his pants on a zoom class one of the lil jerks in the meeting would screen shot and put it on Snapchat, the internet is forever.
There’s someone with a camera seeking clout at every turn.
That’s why I’ll always do what I can to be an ally to folks coming up.
shyt is very different for y’all
did gen x and boomers fukk up on some coward shyt? of course. but i see that same mentality in my generation. like i said before, gen x and boomers had some amazing artists, especially gen x with where they took the culture and where they're taking it.
i give gen x a lot of credit, because its hard to be a proud loser/hater in gen x generation. underground boomers really set up gen x well.
hater ass gen xers tryin hard to act like they're down with their vintage band shirts, and halter tops, and ripped jeans and vans doing brunch in williamsburg.
they're super embarrassed that kanye is the voice of their generation. tbh, on some silent generation shyt, i don't think the boomers had somebody that was their voice. they were too busy trying to get lost in respectability. they're embarrassed by kanye, but they want to be him.
a lot of gen xers are jealous because they were too afraid to live how they wanted and now they're doing it vicariously through their kids. millennials are not friends with our parents.
gen z's first fake friend is their gen x parent. i knew my parents weren't my friends and i still trusted them way more than i should have.
but maybe gen xers will be easier to call out by gen z. i don't see gen x ever growing up and i like that. yall brought face tat culture to the foreground.
yall grew up in the 90s where u can get shot for hangin out on the lower east side for the wrong reasons. yall was really outside, while boomers, while a very tough generation, just wanted to go to work and back because of the things they saw.
gen xers embraced that danger. yall stuck between a 9-5 and raging. yall lost a lot of yall voices young just like gen z. tupac, big, kurt, xxxtentacion, lil peep, juice wrld.
millenials is really like boomers. we hardcore fr. lost of millenials is in the middle of the country rn getting high, pressin fake pills, and gettin into fukkery.
the other half is pretending to be their boomer parents working a 9-5 that don't even come close to paying the bills like it did for their parents.
kanye represents gen x the best because he actually cares about the future and not just himself. for most gen x and boomers, young ppl are just props. they won't let them be anything else, because many of them are godless nihilist who refuse to confront their own mortality. gen x still the coolest gen rn. yall got kanye, a genius designer whose brave and creative, and we got drake, a lightskin version of 808s and heartbreak kanye. drake my dude tho and im very happy to have him be the voice of my gen despite how boring and whiny he can sometimes be. i've had drake since i was 19. gen z still ain't got nobody.
i had to get away from boomers. they still look at me like a toy. because if they don't have to "take me serious yet" then that means they're still in charge.
i have no problem with that, but if being in charge is predicated on others being helpless, then you're just in charge of handicapping.
