I went to Brazil (Rio) on vacation and PDA was so common that after a while you just start ignoring it. Gay PDA too. I think we (Americans) are too puritanical about sex. We hide all that stuff behind closed doors, people are repressed and then you find out women have been kept as sex slaves in some insane guy's basement or your pastor is secretly looking at child porn.

Brazilians are much more comfortable express themselves. After a day or two on the trip, my wife loosened up like 'what's wrong with being a sexual person and showing it. People don't judge you here for being a sexual person here.' I think that's where we need to get to.

Being raised in Brazil, and having gone there a lot of times, I tend to agree with you but I also have to admit that Brazilian culture goes too far in somethings. I'm not a prude or sexually repressed AT ALL.

But they have shows on primetime television just sexualizing young girls too much at times. I can't get with that pedo shyt. I find it disgusting.

Fair point. For me, being raised in the US, it was refreshing to see the freedom there. Sounds like the reverse was true in your case. Perhaps the cultures are at two extremes. The ideal level of liberation is probably somewhere in the middle.

I tend to lean towards more of the Brazilian culture when it comes to sexual issues on a lot of circumstances, but they tend to go overboard a little bit. Too much sexualized programming, media, etc,, for young children, especially young girls might not be beneficial. It's like these Toddler Beauty Peagants you see on TV here but taken to the next level.

There has to exist a happy medium somewhere.

That's not what I was getting at. Regardless, people like you don't base your views on this subject on reason- you've already decided in advance. If it's a situation like this, then it's just an individual problem. If it's state-sanctioned discrimination, as in the case of military, adoption, or marriage, then you have a different rationale for rejecting it.

other than that, this does seem pretty anecdotal. I have no problem with them suing the company or whatever, but I don't think this story is particularly representative of anything, other than the fact that many people have issues with the gays

It was an individual problem and it got dealt with. I read the story and it was considered a non-story b/c of the situation was handled properly by the company. Dude was out of line but it doesn't go along with your "Civil Rights" agenda you attended on putting it across to us. You still haven't given the law that claims what you said earlier.

thats just ugly language...admit you've got anger and hate in your heart and to be rationally honest its not healthy. I find homosexuality between men disgusting...but i also find the thought of geriatric people having sex disgusting

does that mean that I sit here and take time out of my day hating either of these groups of people? That would be silly wouldn't it? Having a hate grandpa agenda and all. No they are both within their rights to engage in whatever behavior that pleases them since it doesn't hurt me or anyone else for that matter

you get nothing of value holding on to this hatred and deep down wanting to see people suffer or thinking of them as less than human is a dangerous road that is similar to the mindset of an Adolf Hitler or Plantation owner during the days of the slave trade when you begin to look at people as less than human.

Ultimately people are people and they all have potential to hold tremendous value in life when they are rational law abiding people regardless of race gender or sexual orientation...

now if your talking about child predators and pedophiles they indeed are criminal individuals who are ruining someone's childhood with their actions and they need to either be castrated or just taken out because they diminish value from the world
