You guys really love believing Russian media bluster. Why would the Russians escalate when the strike did little to change very favourable political and military dynamic for them and their regime ally? This is domestic focused rhetoric for nationalists at home who may view the symbolism as symptom of Russian weakness.

At the end of the day the regime will do some ritual crying about conspiracy for a week, Russia will block a resolution, and business will go back to usual. Trump wins domestically for getting focus shifted elsewhere but nothing has changed in Syria. No war is happenin between the States, Russia, or even the regime despite people's active imaginations.

As for US military involvement there's already special forces on the ground on Syria and thousands of strikes for past three years. You are smoking something potent if you think the Russians do not value the fact those attacks by allow regime to focus on rebels. The Russians are shrewd diplomatically and strategically, they're not gonna get rid of this arrangement that helps the regime simply because Trump ordered a single show strike.
