Nah, but the 'official' narrative puts the blame on Assad, but when you examine the situation the use of CW's hurts Assad position geopolitically and his ability to negotiate so why would he use them ? :mindblown:

It's pretty clear what's happened. Especially after the events of 2013 and that whole chemical attack fiasco.

Like Lenin said, "look for who benefits".

This is clearly a positive for Israel and Saudi

Who exactly is the US starting a war with? Like they couldn't wipe Assad's ass easily. He doesn't have shyt to counter with
US couldn't effectively occupy Iraq or Afghanistan, to think its going to be able to go and wipe out Syrians who largely hate them for supporting ISIS as it terrorized them is a fukking joke. On top of that Syrians are backed by Iran and Russia and China, have anti air defenses, have naval defenses and bases.

The US would have to launch a ground invasion, and that would cost lives that US populace would revolt in seeing. Trump is done after this, they launch an invasion and you might see even more drastic calls for "strongmen" to be elected.

I thought you needed the support of Congress to do shyt like this? :whatthefukk:

It hasn't even been a 100 days into this presidency. :mindblown:

Kinda,

If the president doesn't officially "declare a war" then they can do what they want.

For example, The Korean or Vietnam wars weren't necessarily wars because they weren't approved by congress but they were "conflicts".

It's essentially a loophole that presidents have used to circumvent the process of declaring actual war.

The war powers act of 1970 by congress was pushed to try to end that kind of thing, but it largely failed and actually strengthened the president as it allowed the president engage in an actual "war" for 90 days without congressional approval.
