Assad has control of the vast majority of the country and the greater capabilities, getting rid of him is going to be far more bloody and drawn out in any case. Oh ye, good luck with finding a secular replacement that will hold the country together moron, but of course like most pro interventionist idiots you didn't even think that far.
Violent ethnic-cleansing and state suppression of minority groups that is going to continue instability, or instability from outside forces :patrice:
He should call in the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood and let them try their soft touch Islamism if he can unseat Assad. :dame:

I'm predicting an "accidental" US aircraft shootdown from Russia :francis:

They're not going to take this lying down, that's for damn sure.

This might go wayyyyy left:picard:

these bullshyt cutesy statements don't mean anything when you're tasked with standing up for something.
Why you getting mad about statements of fact, hell you even agree with it because war makes the stronger right?
Don't get mad when you childish logic is exposed for what it is.

What are you talking about? Assad is an alawite which is a minority shia group in Syria. They are 14% of the population. He has the support of the minority groups such as Alawites, Druze and Christians and some of the Sunni urban elite and middle class. The Kurds do not support either Assad or the rebels. The Kurds and rebels have been fighting each other for the longest time since summer 2012. It is the sunni poor rural majority that is rebelling against Assad.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
Go ahead and make this the "official" Syria thread.

The Donald is inevitably going to further f*ck himself because NONE of his advisers have any experience in this arena.
The only 2 real adults he has as advisers are Mattis and McMaster, if he is listening to them, maybe? I trust them as the only 2 respectable people attached to this administration
