What L? I'm not the one who stans an ex officer who took the name of a coke dealer and carved a fantasy land for his career to be relevant. My thread goes against the fake lifestyles you glorify out in the gangster capital of Toronto.

:pacspit: Shut the fukk up and go back to bed kid.

I don't even like Ross :snoop:

When did I ever say I was doing gangsta shyt :aicmon:

Agreed. It opened up many genres and sub-genres in Hip Hop and that can only be a good thing. Eating from the same apple all the damn time was boring, it was just constant clones of the same sagged pants a$$hole who sprayed negativity to your ears. The worst part of it all was just the huge fake gangster persona these guys put on, shyt was embarrassing and :shaq2: status.

Guys like Kanye West would've been destroyed in the mid 90s when ignorance was at its political peak.
So we're gonna act like A Tribe Called Quest and De La wasn't poppin' back then? the 90's were diverse like crazy, you better check ya history breh

The 90's had

Gangster Rap(NWA, Dr. Dre with the Cronic, Pac, BIG, Mobb Deep, etc)

Native Tongues(De La, Tribe, etc)

Conscious Rappers, 5%, Black Power(Public Enemy, BDP, Poor Righteous Teachers, Brand Nubian, Arrested Development, etc)

New Jack Swing Dance shyt(Heavy D, Big Daddy Kane, Father MC, Wrecks n Effect, Hammer, Mase & Puffy, etc)

Weed Rap(Cyprus Hill, west coast shyt)

Jazzy shyt(Gangstarr, Digable Planets, Pete Rock & CL, etc)

Southern shyt(Geto Boys, Master P, etc)

add in a ton of other artists- Wu Tang, Heiro, Rawkus Records artist, DJ Quik, 3rd Bass, Outkast, Black Sheep, etc etc etc etc.... I can go on for days breh.

-I'm a 90's aficionado to the fullest. NOTHING was touching the 90's. we had it all back then. whatever you were into you had your pick.

-fukk all this trap/auto tune/weirdo shyt we got now

I came in here to say this after youtubing the two dudes in the original post.. How the heck is this some new wave??!?! Hip hop was a million times more diverse in the 90's than it is now. There was a time when being original was too the extreme and copying was dishonarable and attacked viciously.

We do not live in those times anymore.

The two artist mentioned are cool and all but there used to be Digable Planets, Hieroglyphics, Outkast, Camp Lo... just to add a few to what has already been listed..

Hip hop can in no way be seen as evolved... its is degenerate....

Edit: Didn't fully read Pete's post... you covered most of the artists I mentioned

Rap doesn't reflect the people anymore, it reflects rappers.

Damn you just summed up exactly why I don't like most of this music in one sentence. Even when its not that bad it still gets on my nerves. I just don't like rappers very much...

Just because it's gangsta rap doesn't mean it's inherently terrible or negative in content.
Two of the most celebrated rappers on this website are both gangster rappers (Jay-Z and Nas) there are still dope rappers that are gangster but make smart music :
Freddie Gibbs
Jay rock
School boy q
and
Nippsey hussle
All come to mind
